Welcome to the Runners. I'm Reginald, call me Reg for shorthand. You've been through basic training and you know what to do. These packages are destined for the Kew Quarter safehouse. Nobody catches a Runner. Don't be the first.

(END TRANSMISSION)

This is an RP set in the Mirror's Edge universe, following a team of Runners as they go about their business. But the new-spangled Pursuit Cops and armed response to Runners is making the job tougher. Nevertheless, who's ever been put off by a few bullets?

The game is run using a modified Roll To Dodge setup, using two dice and totalling, to reduce critical failures and critical succcesses.

[1 or less]: Catastrophic failure. This will almost certainly result in death/debilitating injury

  • Example: You jump towards the gap in the roof, but before you jump, you take a bullet in the leg, and you go tumbling into the streets below....
[2-3]: Epic Failure. This will put you at a significant disadvantage, with a likely injury.
  • Example: You run the wall, but time the jump wrong and smash ribs first into the floor. You manage to hoist yourself up, but you feel you've done yourself an injury. (-2 injury until treated)
[4-5]: Failure. You almost make the action.
  • Example: As you spin round, you come face-to-face with a Pursuit Cop. You instinctively start runningm and although you shake the Pursuit Cop, you trip on a trailing cable, catching your leg painfully as you go. (-1 injury for 2 rolls)
[6-7]: Partial Success. Something is achieved, but not to a great degree.
  • Example: You jump and reach the other side, but so does the Pursuit Cop.
[8-9]: Success. The action was achieved.
  • Example: You evade the PK ambush with ease, every bullet missing you.
[10-11]: Total Success. The action was performed exceptionally, and puts the player at significant advantage.
  • Example: You spin around and catch the Pursuit Cop off-guard. You smash her around the head and disable her with her own taser. You decide to keep the taser, it might come in handy (inventory: taser)
[12]: Hyper Failure. The action fails due to an over-application of effort.
  • You punch the PK in the face, but your fist hits thin air. He's faster than you thought! As you catch a rifle butt in the face, you turn and run disoriented. (-2 injury for 1 roll)

The injuries used in the examples are as simple as the modifier to the roll and how long it lasts. Each task is assigned it's own risk, and the higher the risk, the higher the reward, but the tougher the challenge (roll maluses and boni for easier actions).
