Let's not get started on their main weapons.
I didn't find the book all that funny.
As in, not funny at all.
For someone that's used to Discworld, and Sandman, this book brings very few new things. The Riders are bland, the other riders are dumb, the rampant but very mild anti-amercian xenophobia gets boring after a while, but is never funny in the first place, the kids are way too Spielberg-esque, the angel and demon's personalities aren't played strongly enough, the witches in this story have nothing on the other witches written by either author (where's the blood, Gaiman? where's the headology, Pratchett?), England is portrayed as such a parochial, boring place it feels like a parody of the Shire, and Heaven and Hell, as well as Human Conflict, could have been worked much more interestingly, and I don't mean in a The Salvation War way.
Boring. Yet I couldn't stop reading until the end, because I wanted to find out how it bloody ended. Can't say I enjoyed myself.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that....So any more news?
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked. You're just being a superpatriot. There were more digs at the UK than at the US.
I'm a skeptical squirrel... I'm from neither...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Remember, Good Omens was written before either author was really big. Neil Gaiman had only been writing Sandman for a couple years, and Good Omens was his first novel, and Terry Pratchett was just hitting his stride.
Not Three Laws compliant. Then go refresh your memory on the meaning of "xenophobia".
I'm a skeptical squirrelWait, what?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. No? OK then, I'll just, I'll wait. I can wait...
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.A mood heel (a bunch of pictures capturing how the show feels) was shown in the Discoworld 2012 convention. I don't think it was released to the general public.
The only news I've heard is that Pratchett would be down with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Aziraphale.
Which would be cool, sure, but my headcanon is Richard Ayoade.

Cumberbatch is supposedly doing a film called "Absolutely Anything" with both Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (and the rest of the Pythons, but most importantly the Terrys).
Sounds like a good omen to me.
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231Might need to check your entrails there.
Terry Gilliam + Film = Inauspicious Augury.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. What I meant was, we have the guy who was going to make a GO film, the guy who was going to make a GO miniseries, and an actor who would be perfect for one of the lead roles all collaborating on a project together.
If it works out well, they might think about doing Good Omens together afterwards.
So, anyone got any other ideas for casting?
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231Some almost-news on the subject.
So, it looks like a miniseries is almost looking more likely than a film, which I'm happy about. I have no doubt that this will happen one day, but I just really hope that they're able to do it while Sir Terry's still able to appreciate it...
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231Damn, I hope this gets made soon.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Colin Morgan was my pick for Newt! Loo Brearly's in it... Anathema, perhaps?
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231I assume Clive Russell is Shadwell. I would've gone for Brendan Gleeson, but that's just me.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I would've gone with Andy Serkis for Shadwell, but that's a bit much for a radio series.
I still want them to do a show eventually, but it's nice that they're doing at least one adaptation while Sir Terry is still able to appreciate it.
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231Looks like we've got confirmation for the dates of the radio show! 22 December, here we come! http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2014/cabin-pressure-good-omens
when i first made this account it was 2008 and i'm so sorry for anything i might have said back thenBenedict Cumberbatch again? That guy is everywhere. He's like a real life Wolverine.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Cabin Pressure is hilarious. I'm just as excited for it as I am for GO- the humour is quite similar, come to think of it.
Hmm... I wonder if they got the rights to use the Queen music in the radio adaptation. Wouldn't be the same without it. It'd be especially cool if they did some remixes of the tracks blended with classical music to show what happens when a tape reaches the two-week mark.
Also, I had a random thought about fancasting for the TV series the other day- imagine Bill Bailey and Ross Noble, as two of the bikies...
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231First two radio episodes are up!
Very faithful adaptation so far- right down to Dog's ear popping. Crowley and Aziraphale do not sound quite how I imagined, but they work well. The child actors are wonderful, and Anathema and Adam have a great dynamic. In fact, the only thing I take issue with was the loss of most of the drunk scene... Dolphins! That's my point..
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231Good Omens TV Miniseries Arrives on Amazon Next Year
Hell yes!!
NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
