Crono or DQ just for that sweet sweet Toriyama designs.
Also, insert Goku meme
Uni catinb4 Sora.
I refuse to give up hope.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Geno would be disappointing for me personally since he's just a Mario character that just happens to have been made by Square, and he wasn't even that important a character in SMRPG. But since he's a fan-favorite, I won't complain if he actually gets in, seeing how long some of his fans have been waiting for him to return in something.

Karxrida, do we have to talk about who owns what again?
I feel like Sora is as problematic as Goku, for despite being the protagonist of a non-licensed video game series (and even that is debatable), he is still partly associated with a company that isn't known for video games.
Y'all are gonna be blindsided when Katalina gets in.
This song needs more love.I'll save being thrown for a loop when Dorcas, Saber or Mist gets in, thanks
Plot twist: Donald Duck as the Kingdom Hears rep!
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Isn't Sora a Disney character? As in, 100% owned by Disney? I imagine it'd cost too much for Nintendo to get Sora into the series.
Edited by Pichu-kun on Nov 4th 2018 at 5:31:52 AM
Yeah, that's the issue. Sora is owned by Disney and there's no way that Disney is letting Nintendo use their property without a hefty cost.
Well, if Disney even cares anyway. There's a lot of evidence to suggest that they don't, plus Disney has been pretty buddy-buddy with Nintendo in regards to their gaming history.
I don't think Sora is impossible, but he's up there in the "super duper unlikely" category for me.
Honestly, I think Goku has more of a chance than Sora. And I honestly wouldn't mind Goku being in Smash due to Dragon Ball's very long history on Nintendo consoles, as well as Fighterz being the literal most successful fighting game ever AND on a Nintendo console (as well as XV 2 being on a Nintendo console to boot).
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeHe still didn't start as a videogame character. That should get him disqualified on principle.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundI get that Fighterz made a splash and had a lot of hype but c'mon guy
Tekken 3 and Super Smash Bros in general are kinda sorta several multitudes larger than a game nobody but the hardcore crowd plays any more
Hasn't Sakurai said that all of the Goku requests kind of annoy him?
This song needs more love.I totally disagree. Dragon Ball is very representative of an entire genre of video games and is definitely a non-insignificant part of video game history. He makes a great representative of his mark on gaming.
That's just... wrong. FighterZ is still incredibly active by casual and competitive fans alike, and was the most viewed event at EVO. Even more than Melee! You're completely underestimating how big of a splash FighterZ made and still has.
I think that was in regards to Spongebob and Shrek? but spongebob has battle for bikini bottom sooooo Who knows if his complaint applies to Goku because I don't think he was mentioned specifically.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI'd support Noctis just for the huge amount of salt if he wasn't in Tekken 7 already and I think more Square Enix characters have a chance than him.
It's been 3000 years…Compared to what it once was it's not significantly larger than any other fighting game. Definitely nowhere near "the most successful fighting game ever". It had a faster and sharper drop off rate than Tekken 7's and has around the same number of concurrent players on at least Steam.
For it's first year, riding off everyone's Dragon Ball high thanks to Dragon Ball Super airing, a very strong marketing push, having just been released earlier this year, and riding the momentum it gained off of burying Marvel Infinite. Let's see how it does next year, compared to games that have been around and stood the test of time like Melee.

Disney has a even bigger impact in videogames.
Or Popeye, at least when Nintendo is concerned.
The best thing to do concerning non-videogame characters is not adding them. It opens a huge can of worms that is nothing but trouble.
Uni catx4 By that logic, we should also add in Batman and Superman and a Lego brick and all the mainstays from Super Robot Wars and only God knows whoever else.
You see the problem there?

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundPlot twist: Square rep is Agnes and those fanart renders from a month ago were real all along
Bigger plot twist: Second Square character is the car from Rad Racer.
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute. And, as you mentioned, it has a similar active playerbase to Tekken 7 (albeit, admittedly, less on average) and Street Fighter V (with more players on average), and that's just on Steam. No idea the figures for Xbox and PS4, but I'd err on the side of having more players by virtue of home consoles being more casual friendly.
Quite frankly, no I don't. For one, none of those series (besides Lego) has anywhere near the impact that Dragon Ball does. Implying that Popeye is as influential as Dragon Ball is in video gaming is laughable. Batman nor Superman have a strong history on Nintendo consoles, nor is any of their games making a major impact as of late (besides maybe the Arkham games, none of which are on Nintendo consoles anyway).
Hell, a Lego (Series) rep would actually be really cool, given it's impact on gaming and how successful the Lego video games series (especially Star Wars) was and is.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Maex8 Oh no, he definitely talked about Goku when discussing 'ridiculous' fan requests.
Thought it was more interesting that apparently Sponge Bob's barrier to Smash is that his games aren't sold in Japan.

Don't know why people are clamoring for having Goku in Smash, when he's actually already in Smash. He's just called Lucario.
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.Popeye does have a bit of history with Nintendo (including an arcade game made by Nintendo themselves; Donkey Kong itself was originally going to be a Popeye game until Kings balked; essentially, if it weren't for Popeye, we may have never gotten Mario), so it's not nearly as laughable as you might think.

"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"
I'd rather see other SE potentials over another FF rep. Geno, Chrono, etc.
