With potentially 70+ characters it's unlikely specialized Target/Platform challenges come back. Didn't they ditch those in Brawl, when the roster was only 35?
They can at least bring Target/Platform back in general. Even if it's not specialized, it would still be nice to have.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-Around@SilentPartner: I would say that if Ultimate did get it's own Direct, it wouldn't be until it was close to the games release (So either late October or early November I'd say).

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.A while ago, someone here said that characters like Dr. Mario and Young Link serve as ways to keep old movesets from previous games like Melee around... and it just made me realize what a wasted opportunity Dark Pit is, because he could've easily had regular Pit's old moveset from Brawl (the Angel Ring, Mirror Shield, and Wings of Icarus). That, combined with his unique Final Smash, would've been way better than what we got in Smash 4. Or is recycling a few assets from Brawl still too much work?
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute. If that's the case, it makes way more sense to have Pit keep the old and Dark Pit to represent the new. I know the whole 'characters do things they don't in their main series' but Dark Pit is from a game Sakurai was behind and actively uses the new stuff but not the old while Pit uses both.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValI'm not too keen on Geno's chances anymore, but I noticed something about his Mii costume; it appears to be based on an updated Geno design.
Other than adapting for the size difference between Geno's original proportions and the Mii Gunner, the costume has several differences from Geno's SMRPG look. It has a wooden skin texture, more pronounced joints, a pointier end to the hat where previously it was round and lumpy, a different symbol on the front of that hat, and his ribbons are closer together. The only thing that hasn't changed is that the shawl is roughly the same size.
I think Geno is the only Mii costume not to be a 1-1 transition of the character to the costume.
Hmmm, imagine if Geno and Mallow became Assist Trophies?
It makes too much sense if you ask me. Many people would be outraged but i think rather obscure characters from a popular franchise spin off getting as Assist Trophies feels like a suitable treatment for them.
But hey, people want Geno playable, so i don't think that would be a good idea.
Uni catI'm not familiar with Uprising, so I don't know how different the two Pits are in that game. All I know is that, in regards to their appearances in Smash, they could've easily made Dark Pit play more differently from regular Pit without too much effort instead of just making him an almost identical clone.

This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.Even if he doesn't get playable, someone could still use his AT as a base for making a full mod. That would be something.

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-Aroundx3 The most common sentiment I see is for Geno to be playable and Mallow to be an Assist Trophy.
x2 That's more or less what happened to Falco in Melee; Fox's moveset had changed and Falco took on his special's properties from Fox's 64 specials.
EDIT: In regards to my post about the Geno Mii costume I went back and the shawl actually is longer than the original render's. It's basically a complete redesign of Geno.

If Megaman wasn't around, i wouldn't mind Geno but now that he is in and Mii Gunner is also a thing, i don't think he could offer a lot in terms of moveset.
Geno as a standalone AT feels a lot more appropriate. And considering Bomberman got relegated to AT, it seems likely that it could be the same thing for Geno
Uni catI sorta agree in that Sakurai's stated reasoning for Geno being a good fit for Smash was that he had a gun for a hand, but the guys at Project M gave him a pretty swanky moveset.
I hypothesized a sort of hidden/built-in weaponry set up for Geno, where different parts of his body open up to unleash weapons, or his gun changes depending on what attack he uses.
Plus there's also his magic attacks from SMRPG for B-moves. You could have Geno Beam for a Neutral B, Geno Whirl for a Side B, Geno Blast for Down B, and Geno Flash for his FS.

I figure Geno's special moves with be his B moves and his Smash attacks could be shots from his different weapons (fist atrack for side A, arm cannon for down A, star gun for up A).
-Witty line-Yeah, given that there's approximately a million sword wielders having multiple characters with guns for hands isn't that big a deal, especially since it's easy for them all to play differently. Geno's more magic-oriented than all those characters anyway.
I don't know if it's of any significance, but the fact that Geno got a redesign for his Mii costume is weird, to say the least.
Dammit, now I'm hoping Geno's in again.
At the last minute, Geno will be revealed to be secretly replacing Mario as the core Mario rep. (This is the real reason why Dr. Mario isn't an echo.)
My secret hope is that Nintendo buys the rights to all the SMRPG characters for the pittance they're undoubtedly worth, not like Geno's gonna show up in Kingdom Hearts III anytime soon, and make a direct follow up to the game with Chihiro Fujioka back at the helm.
Geno will get in... as a Mii Gunner echo.
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute. What's the point in buying one-offs?
Characters from spin-offs only exist for the game they debut in.
They don't get used after that.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. That's actually what Source Gaming thinks is his best bet.
If he does just remain a costume then at least give us a helmet or something.
Personally, I know its very unlikely, but I'm still holding out hope for a Shin Megami Tensei character, like Jack Frost. x3
What? Project M never made any new characters besides adding Roy and Mewtwo back in before it was shut down. I know because I followed Project M's development ever since version 2.0.
Geno would be undoubtedly cool to see in Ultimate, though.
They were gonna add Knuckles...
I'm pretty sure they're thinking of something else, though.
Since there's another updating mod that does add characters

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Lyn was the other I can remember.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.x3: I don't think Project M ever added Geno, but I know a mod for PM that added him. Don't know if that's what they're were referring to. Its trailer:

If they don't focus on bringing newcomers, they can do character specific board the platforms and target test...
Otherwise no.
