I failed to make clear the two step flow.

Randomize the order of those categories you posted.

Choose a random character from each category, and present them in that order.

Repeat (removing used characters, natch). I.E. we keep jumping from game to game. it ought to avoid most cast herds. Of course, with our luck it'll be something like Marisa->Alice->Nitori->Patchouli, but w/e.

That may be a little better at avoiding the dreaded "two or more PC-98 entries in a row" scenario. On the other hand, the random sequence generator I just played with spat out UFO, locations, Other Game Fun Pack, HRtP, EoSD, LLS, and MS. The difference may ultimately be trivial. Maybe we should just vote between

"random character from the complete list each time, reroll if characters from the same game pop up three times in a row"

versus

"generate a random sequence of games, randomly pick a character from each of those games in that order, then determine a new random sequence."

Which sounds better?

Also, feel free to add your proposals for the next thread's title. So far we've had "The New New Compendium" and "Revenge of the Compendium." It can't be something as boring as "The Third Compendium," eh?

At any rate, I'd like to get it up in the next 13 hours.

I think if we're going pure random anyway, then a random character from the complete list strikes me as marginally fairer. Choosing by game first reduces the chances of characters from games with more characters, and vice versa. So POFV is disproportionately favored while PCB is disfavored.

So... option 1.

Oh hey, I should probably convert the list of characters by game into one big List... and add locations...

EDITO: Location list currently consists of Gensokyo, the Human Village, Eientei, Makai, the Netherworld, Youkai Mountain, the Underground, the Lunar Capital, and theScarlet Devil Mansion. Did anything we previously discussed get left out? Are there any places we need to add, like the Myouren Temple or Senkai?

Good question. If we spend about a week per character, would mentioning the next two characters be enough forewarning?
