Overly convenient healthcare trope. Does it exist?

After having to deal with trying to get a surgery booked I have noticed a pattern emerging in t.v shows. Whenever a character needs to go see a doctor over a flu or whatnot they always get the appointment the day of. I know for a fact that if I wanna see my general physician it's gonna take at least a week in advance to book the appointment.

I really noticed this in episode 8 of Witch hunter Robin. The monster of the week happened to be a doctor and the way they introduced the character was making the protagonist go to a hospital. The way they got them in there was giving the character a cold.

I don't know how great the healthcare system is where you folks live but I seriously doubt that if I go to my nearest hospital and say I have a cold they're going to let me have a one on one with a doctor right there and then.

So my question really is, Is healthcare ever just to darn great in television?

Someday, someone will best me. But it won't be today, and it won't be you.
