- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Sarah is a delightfully ditzy girl and her interactions with the more hard-nosed Anna provide some much needed levity in the story. She gets Put on a Bus less than a third of the way into the story and is never seen again.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Late in the story it is revealed that Henry is part of a secret society plotting to overthrow the monarchy, murder the royal family and institute a democracy, but that Henry has become conflicted about his role in the group due to his relationship with Ella. While all this sounds potentially cool and intriguing...in the same chapter that the revolutionaries are introduced, Henry gives up the names of his co-conspirators to Edmund and they are all arrested off-page.
- Wangst: Cinderella can fall into this at times, particularly when thinking about how bored she is as a princess.
