YMMV / Wild Card (Dresden Files)

  • Fanon Discontinuity: There's a massive Continuity Snarl between the comic and the novels; add in the less-than-stellar art (Mac's bar particularly looks like the artist was just asked to draw a generic bar), the Anti-Climax, and the fact that the novels have yet to reference it, and most people are okay with ignoring this particular adventure.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Poker Game between Harry and Puck lasts all of two pages. It's where the comic gets the damn title from, and we see exactly none of the action in the game; one panel they're playing, the next, Harry's won. Also, there's no indication that Harry's victory was anything other than blind luck; given that Malcolm Dresden was a stage magician it would have been perfectly plausible for a Guile Hero like Harry to have stacked the deck via non-magical sleight of hand.
