- Base-Breaking Character: Fair to say the Crump brothers in "Natural Born Quizzers" are this. They're supposed to be parodies of annoying characters, but as producer David Tyler lampshades in the DVD commentary, many people just found them actually annoying. It was a relief to many viewers that they were Killed Off for Real at the end of the episode.

- The Crump brothers win a Blake's 7 kitbag on a quiz show in 1975. Blake's 7 didn't start until 1978.
- Also, despite having apparently been locked up in a mental institution since 1975, they seem to be familiar with pub quiz machines, which first appeared in 1985.
