The Regime in general, is grounded in the belief that after Metropolis, traditional superheroics are too [[GoodIsOldFashioned archaic]] to support, the criminals they haul into prison never face [[KarmaHoudini any consequences for their actions]], [[RedemptionRejection refuse to reform no matter how many times they've been offered mercy and second chances]] and the Insurgency insistence on ThouShallNotKill makes them look like HonorBeforeReason, HolierThanThou naïve {{Hypocrite}}s who values [[PrinciplesZealot their morals above the safety of others]]. Batman's own estranged son Damian, who became [[TookALevelInCynic disillusioned with his father's ways]] and subsequently [[FaceHeelTurn defected to the Regime]], [[ArmorPiercingQuestion even bluntly asks]] him if he would've taken the same route if the Joker had killed him and nuked Gotham instead of Metropolis, something which Batman isn't able to respond back. The tie-in comics even lampshade this: a U.S. senator gives Batman a ReasonYouSuckSpeech, stating that while Superman may have been a tyrant, [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans his methods at least ''worked'']].
