Trivia / Neal McCoy

  • Chart Displacement:
    • He only has two #1 hits: "Wink" is obvious, but "No Doubt About It" — despite being his Breakthrough Hit — did not have the staying power of other cornerstone songs such as "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On" (#10) or "The Shake" (#5).
    • His highest Hot 100 entry is not "Wink", but rather a tie betwen "No Doubt About It" and "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On".
  • Missing Episode: The Luckiest Man in the World was targeted for a 2003 release but was canceled at the last minute, taking the lead single and title track down with it. (Curiously the album includes "Put Your Best Dress On", which itself would become a Missing Episode for Steve Holy only one year later.)
  • Similarly Named Works: His "Going, Going, Gone" competed with Thrasher Shiver's "Goin' Goin' Gone" on the charts in 1996.
  • Sleeper Hit: "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On" was one. It was an independent release with little promotion, and fell off the charts after only one week before slowly re-entering and climbing its way into the top 10, thus becoming his first major hit since "The Shake" in 1997.
