Airdate: 7 September 2007 (UK); 7 October 2007 (US)

The engines are asked to take some deliveries for a harvest festival and fireworks, but Thomas is put in charge of taking a new lightbulb to the lighthouse on the other side of the island. Thomas is asked to go slow and steady as going too fast could cause the lightbulb to break, but his excitement of wanting to go to the festival gets the better of him.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: Stick to what's at hand; going off course could derail you.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Thomas misses the fireworks, and the entire festival, but he gets to see something even better: the lighthouse light shining.
  • Product Delivery Ordeal: The engines are getting ready for the harvest festival celebration, and Thomas is tasked with delivering a new lightbulb to the lighthouse by nightfall so that ships at sea can find their way to Sodor safely. The Fat Controller advises Thomas to go slowly since the lightbulb is very fragile. At first, Thomas goes slowly and carefully, but when he sees his friends getting ready for the party, he becomes more and more excited and goes faster and faster, eventually breaking the lightbulb when he crashes into a barrier. Thomas goes back to the warehouse and collects a new lightbulb, being much more careful with it despite knowing that he will miss the party if he does.
  • Running Gag: Whenever Thomas sees a different engine, he speeds up.
