Recap / Recess S 1 E 8 To Finster With Love

• Bittersweet Ending: Sadly, Hank and Miss Finster have to put aside their romantic feelings for one another and break things up, but it's done for the greater good of resuming their jobs professionally, thus restoring order to the playground. With that said, Hank promises that someday, when their services are no longer needed, they'll get back together.
• Distracted by the Sexy: When Miss Finster gets a glance at a kneeling Hank's plumber's crack, she's so caught up in the view that she doesn't even register TJ is cracking a joke about her. This inspires TJ's plan to set up Miss Finster with Hank.
• He's Back!: When TJ wants to make sure that Miss Finster is back to normal, he first asks her if she's okay. She soberly affirms she will be. To this, TJ makes a joke about how big her feet look, spurning Miss Finster to her old, crabby, cranky self. As she chases TJ, he gleefully affirms to himself "She's back!"
• Ironic Echo: The episode begins with Miss Finster disrupting TJ's attempt to roll down the hill in a barrel, since it's against the rules. Later, with Miss Finster preoccupied with Hank the Janitor, TJ tries the same stunt again. ...Only this time, it's other, older kids who are enacting their own anarchy on the playground. It testifies that the Recess Gang's intentions to bring freedom to the playground has instead welcomed chaos and lawlessness that threatens to tear apart the playground, and how no boundaries are just as bad as too much boundaries.
• Star-Crossed Lovers: Miss Finster and Hank are a pretty functional couple on paper. They both requite each other's feelings and enjoy each other's company. The problem is, their relationship leaves the two so preoccupied with one another that they neglect to do their jobs until they see for themselves how recess has gone to pot without them. So in the end, the two have to break it up, for the sake of the children.
• We Want Our Jerk Back!: Miss Finster finding love initially benefits the Recess Gang, since she's not around to enforce rules that normally ruins their fun. At most, she's practically too infatuated to register when something's off. Unfortunately, without her iron fist to maintain order, the playground is swallowed up in chaos as the strong prey upon the weak. That said, everyone is agreed that Miss Finster's former, stricter self is needed.
