Chapter 5: Laundry
After the snow storm passes, the girls travel to the city's drainage system where it starts releasing a lot of water accumulated from the melted snow. They decide to go on foot and collect drinking water from the area, as well as use the opportunity to wash their clothes on a sunny day, but before they begin with laundry, Chito ties herself and Yuuri around their waists with a rope to prevent injuries from washing away or falling into deep water, and keeps her helmet on to avoid falling on her head. Yuuri, meanwhile, wonders why does the sky look blue. While Chito gives her the answer, however, Yuuri is distracted by something nearby and starts running off with Chito still tied with her, causing both of them to fall over and get wet. What Yuuri had found in the water was a dead fish, and she immediately suggests that they should eat it. Since the fish hasn't started decomposing yet, Chito agrees to roast it for dinner after they hang their clothes to dry. After discussing what it would feel like to live in the ocean as if they were fishes, the fish has finished being roasted, and Chito gives it to Yuuri to see how it tastes. Declaring that it's delicious, the two take turns to finish eating it. They deduce that the fish must've come from a higher level of the megacity and that they'll find more of them there. After getting dressed up in their clean clothes, the girls make the fish's skeleton "swim" and bid it goodbye before continuing on.
