Shout-Out: The episode title is a play on the movie To Catch a Thief.
Taking the Kids: In the literal sense, as the Keatons' friends, Richard and Cynthia Bailey, have just gone through a very bitter divorce. Cynthia has gained full custody of their son, Keith, and she is moving to California with him. Richard retaliates by threatening to kidnap Keith and keep him in Columbus.
Think of the Children!: In the sense that Steven urges Richard to not make a mistake that will have legal consequences for him (kidnapping, which would land him in prison, destroy his career and surely cause him to lose what few parental rights he has left) and emotional consequences for his son (used as a bargaining tool and weapon to get back at his wife).
