The Hunters follow a lead on the vampire who kidnapped Mina Reynolds, tracking them to a Nevada ghost town known as Black Ridge, which was abandoned following a string of mysterious deaths attributed to a curse. When they arrive in the town, they don't find this vampire. What they do find is property developer Jeremy Cross, dead from multiple strikes with an ax.Tropes:
- Let Off by the Detective: The Hunters allow Rick Lewis to walk away from the murder since he wasn't in control of his actions when Nathaniel possessed him to kill Jeremy.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: The killer was possessed by an old prospector ghost named Nathaniel Mason who explains that in the past, a mining incident caused the soil of Black Ridge to be poisoned. Since then, he's been trying to scare away anyone who wants to live in his town due to its unsafe conditions. In the AI, the hunters find a way for the soil to be decontaminated, allowing Mason's spirit to pass on.
