* David French, New York Times columnist and political commentator, was once considered a solid figure of the conservative movement in the United States. He used to write for National Review, a solidly conservative source, and The Dispatch, which is also clearly a right of center source. He had been part of the right since the days of Reagan, but in 2016 he came out in opposition to Donald Trump, and many folks on the right started treating him with all sorts of nastiness, some of them even sent viciously racist attacks towards him and his family because of his adopted black daughter from Ethiopia. As he urged conservatives to consider the moral hypocrisy of supporting Donald Trump while condemning Bill Clinton for having horrible character traits back in 1998, the attacks got worse and worse, and he got horribly maligned, misrepresented even by other mainstream figures in conservative media, and the racist attacks against his family and his daughter continued on. His family got endlessly harassed and threatened by many folks on the right, and in turn when he showed even the slightest bit of friendliness towards those on the left he was greeted with not necessarily equal friendliness but something much better than the horrific mistreatment him and his family endured by the right, that has caused him to go on a drift leftward (from where he previously was, that is) to the point where he endorsed Biden for the 2024 election, he went from solid Republican and conservative to urging non-Trump supporting Republicans to vote for Biden over the span of about ten years, all because he was horribly mistreated by many of those on the right and didn't encounter that same level of malice from the left.

* In ''Literature/JurassicPark'', Nedry chooses to sell Ingen's secrets to its competitors in large part because Hammond was such a cheapskate and BadBoss, having forced Nedry to program the park's entire computer network by himself ([[CuttingCorners instead of hiring a full team of programmers]]) while paying him low wages and keeping him on the island for long periods of time. So much for sparing no expense.
