• Hawkeye, B.J., and Potter would have been more than happy to see the back of Frank Burns. Why wouldn't they want him to be Korshack's surgeon instead?
  • Considering that Frank is a really terrible doctor and surgeon, they probably want him to avoid facing a firing squad if his mishaps end up killing Col. Korshack...
  • For the same reason Hawkeye and B.J. were less than thrilled at his ultimate departure. Yes, they're happy to be rid of him, but they don't love the idea of him getting a nice, cushy job, which would almost seem to be rewarding his incompetence.
  • Also, as incompetent as Burns is, they need every surgeon they can get. Frank may be one step above a butcher, but they need every pair of hands they can get, and considering how hard it's shown to be to even get a temporary replacement, nobody would be in a hurry to get rid of Burns.
