Upon heading for the Pokemon League, Gladion shows up with a Z-Ring. Out of gratitude to Luna, he decides to challenge her to a battle. This time his team is Crobat, Lucario, Silvally, and Weaville. Looking kinda Silver-y there, Gladion.
After defeating his Pokemon, he actually smiles and compliments Luna on her Pokemon.
You're never going to be edgy, are you!? You and your team of mostly Friendship Evolutions...
After the battle, Gladion gives Luna a Max Elixir sent by Lillie. Classic Lillie, always handing people healing items. Gladion then says we aren't friends, but we also aren't enemies anymore before leaving.
Yeah, whatever, man. I'm still adding you on Facebook.
After a bit of backtracking to collect some other Z-Crystals, Pokemon, and items (as well as battling the Trial Captains, which I did not know you could do!), Luna heads up the surprisingly short mountain.
I guess Poni Island was the equivalent of Victory Road.
Hau shows up again to battle and is serious this time, having better movesets to his credit and a Komala. But he still goes down pretty easily. As he's wont to do, he forks over some Max Revives after defeated.
Kukui is there at the Pokemon League, being its founder and all. He mentions his experience with the Indigo Plateau (and Lance!) back in the day before letting us inside. (Edit: If you have your Box Legendary with you, Kukui will say some words to them!)
We have to battle the Elite Four now, which seem to be Hala, Olivia, Acerola, and... some golfer lady I don't know. I guess this is the person who was mentioned in the demo.
Kahili is her name, and she'll be Luna's first opponent. She's actually pretty tough because Magnezone just... isn't doing much with Discharge for some reason. As a result, I wind up with two Pokemon fainted.
Also, I forgot to buy healing items so my inventory is limited. Woo!
Anyway, after healing up and reviving the fainted, Luna moves on to Hala... who is still ridiculously easy and is swept by Ribombee after one Quiver Dance. Next!
Moving on to Olivia, two Pokemon faint again because that stupid Lycanroc just loves getting off its dumb Rock Z-Move right before it faints. I hate youuuuuu, Edgycanroc!
And finally, Acerola proves to be pretty easy since I have hard counters to all of her Pokemon. Apparently, she's standing in for Nanu since he turned down the position. Heh.
Anyway, after beating all four of them, Luna moves on to the Champion room... which is empty! After sitting on the throne, though, Kukui shows up and is like "Show me your moves!"
And so the final battle begins!
AND IT WAS ACTUALLY HARD
I ended with three Pokemon fainted. I think the most memorable part for me was...
- Kukui sent out Snorlax
- Nefertiti uses High Jump Kick, reducing it to the red
- Kukui withdrew Snorlax
- Kukui sent out Decidueye
- Nefertiti used High Jump Kick
- It doesn't affect Decidueye...
- Nefertiti kept going and crashed
- Decidueye used Brave Bird!
That was mean. Fucking Stealth Rock users...
Anyway, after that really hectic battle which made me retroactively disappointed that Kanto didn't end with a battle against Prof. Oak, Luna is made Champion!

Fortunately, none of them are jerks like Red, so they'll give us more than five minutes to enjoy the position.
At the end, everyone comes to Iki Town to celebrate Luna's ascension to Champion. Lillie, Hau, Gladion, the Trial Captains, the Kahunas, E4, Kukui...
Even Mom and Meowth are there!
And Nanu does his Z-Move off in the bushes for some reason. What a goober.
Everyone continues to party until the sun goes down and fireworks are launched. Fun times for all!
Anyway, Lillie is all "Let's go see Tapu Koko" and takes Luna over to his cave. The bridge has been fixed and looks a lot sturdier now.
GOOD
Lillie is like "Hey, you know what'd be cool? Beating up a Guardian Deity."
I'm starting to like you Lillie.
(Edit: If you have your Box Legendary with you, Tapu Koko will say some words to them!)
After oneshotting Tapu Koko with Earthquake (oops), Luna returns back to town with Lillie. Kukui has changed into the Masked Royal again and Prof. Burnet seems to only just now realize it's her husband.
I... what?
WHATEVER, more festivals.
Also, Luna is still wearing her sunglasses at night.
Don't be that guy, Luna.
Lillie mentions Lusamine is doing better now and that she plans to do something, getting in really closely. Careful, Lillie, that's shipping territory you're walking on. The artists online will wind up making tons of artwork if you're not careful.
Heading back to the party, Luna is asked to send out her Pokemon to show everyone, which she does... offscreen.
Boo.
Back at home the next day, the doorbell rings and Luna is sent to answer it. The person at the door comes in, so it must be Kuku-
Oh, it's Hau. Don't you start with that, too.
Apparently, something terrible is happening involving a ship. I imagine Lillie's leaving or something.
Lillie is in fact leaving or something. For Kanto, in fact.
See you in the RGBY/FRLG sequels, I guess? Also, I hope your mom is going to be okay on her own. (Edit: Lusamine went with her.)
Hau tries to confess his deep, burning love for Lillie, but it's too late; the shippers have already paired him with her mother.
Lillie then gives Hau something. Probably a Max Elixir knowing her. Luna gets a Poke Doll.
And so Lillie sets out to Kanto.
Smell ya later, Lillie.
And so the credits roll!
