When Lan gets home Haruka says that there’s a friend of his here to see him. Waiting in Lan’s room is Tora. He explains how ever since the N1, he’s been trying to scope out the competitors and study their operating styles so that he can improve his own. Lan asks if he’s the first person he’s visited, but Tora deflates him a bit by revealing that he went to go see Chaud first, but was turned away at the door. Not to be deterred, he did some spying and discovered the secret to Chaud and Protoman’s strength. Lan’s eager to hear, but Tora has some conditions first: he wants Lan to help him out with a few job requests at SciLab tomorrow since he’s starting to run low on cash. Lan reluctantly agrees, no doubt used to people asking things of him by now.

The next day Lan wakes up and gets an email from Dex saying that he wants to talk. Megaman wonders if this sudden request has anything to do with Dex’s unusual reserve from the previous day. He’s waiting in the park, but before he can get around to saying what’s been bothering him Tora walks up and challenges him to battle, after which the two decide to become friends. Nothing like friendship forged through the fires of competition! Afterwards Tora tells Lan to meet him at SciLab and walks away, giving Dex the opportunity to dodge answering Lan’s question again. He says that he hopes Tora becomes a good friend of Lan’s and leaves. Afterwards we get an email from Tamako revealing that she’s made a shortcut on her homepage to Beach Square, which is very welcome since for some unknown reason there’s no access to Beach Area from Beach Street.

Welp, it’s time to work for Tora. He’s standing by the Job BBS, and there are now four new jobs posted on the board, each one marked with his name. All of these jobs apparently pay in cash that will be automatically sent to Tora’s account upon completion, but we’ll still get a reward of our own as usual. So, to begin.

Job 10: Look for friends (Tora)

A young man in ACDC Park wants us to help him track down an old friend whom he hasn’t seen in fifteen years. We’re told that the friend’s Navi has been seen in Yoka Area, and we’re given a ticket stub that the friend will apparently recognize. The Navi is found napping in Yoka 1, and he reveals that his operator is a veterinarian for the zoo. The operator can be found right inside the zoo, and he recognizes the stub as a treasure map that he and his friend made when they were kids. He vows to get in touch, and upon returning to the client we receive a Regular UP 3.

Job 11: Stuntmen wanted! (Tora)

So for this one we have to meet with a DNN Navi in Beach 1 and go through a five-round survival battle for the purposes of a TV show. After getting through them we’re given an HP Memory.

Job 12: Riot stopped (Tora)

A man in the TV station’s lobby wants our help in taking care of Heel Navis that are spreading viruses around the place since they’re sore over the end of the N1. There are three of them, one in the van parked out front, one in the control panel on the second floor, and one in the Net Battle machine in the main studio. We’re rewarded with the Tally item, which will be put to use in a future scenario.

Job 13: Gathering data (Tora)

A teacher at ACDC has lost the students’ health data. We’re told to look for his Navi in SciLab, only someone messed up, because it’s not a Navi we’re supposed to be looking for but a Program. It thinks it dropped the data in ACDC Area, so back we go. The Navi who picked up the data (and it’s actually a Navi this time) is in ACDC 2 and refuses to give it back unless we give him a Yo-Yo 1 G chip. Upon returning the data to the teacher we’re given a chip for Slow Gauge *.

So with those four jobs done it’s time to talk to Tora again to get the skinny on Chaud. Tora reveals that while Chaud likes to give people the impression that he’s a Net Battling prodigy, in actuality his skill comes from the fact that he’s been training for years – ten hours a day, to be exact. Megaman thinks that it’s amazing that he’s been able to keep this training schedule of his secret for so long and Lan says that he needs to train more to be able to keep up with that. Tora though, says that he thinks the real geniuses are people like Lan whose natural talent can overcome more prepared opponents. So yeah, Chaud’s basically an incredibly driven "Well Done, Son" Guy. As thanks for taking on those jobs Tora gives us our second chip folder and says that he’s going to stick around Den City for a little while longer. This folder in its base form isn't that remarkable save that it has the Pawn, Knight, and Rook chips, but at least we can actually edit this one. Lan decides to head on home.

Short update, but I think I’m gonna call it here for now.
