This will be a short update. Purgatory is a relatively short mission.

Fail Shep heads to the prison ship Purgatory to pick up the next recruit: Jack. Aside from being an extremely violent criminal, Jack is a powerful biotic.

Unfortunately, Purgatory is run by the Blue Suns Mercenary Company, and in Mass Effect 2, mercs will always take the violent option regardless of its practicality. Instead of honoring his deal with Fail Shep, Warden Kuril attempts to take him prisoner to sell him as a slave. Kuril's mercs are no match for a player character.

In order to free Jack, Fail Shep has to release every prisoner on the ship. This starts a riot that causes the ship's reactor to blow. Fail Shep kills Warden Kuril and recruits Jack, who has a grudge against Cerberus.

Considering his bone-headed decision here, Warden Kuril could\'ve made a good replacement for Fail Shepard.
