Virmire, Part II
Fail Shep and co. make it to the center of the base. Kaidan arms a makeshift nuclear bomb, only to be interrupted by Ashley asking Fail Shep for backup. Fail Shep is forced to choose between saving Ashley, his love interest, or Kaidan. Fail Shep saves Kaidan.
Fail Shep has a brief and inconclusive battle with Saren. The bomb goes off and the base is destroyed.

Apparently one can really blaze through the first Mass Effect when not bothering with all the side quests.
