Season 1: This is the year that started it all! Unfortunately, it’s a bit clunky. Especially when it comes to spelling. The pre-merge is pretty good. The tribes are reasonably well-balanced and both have good storylines. The post-merge isn’t that dramatic, but it has a few shake-ups. The characters are a little flat compared to later seasons and they’re not nearly as well defined. A great example of this is Hogan, who starts out as a crude Jerkass who’s willing to sabotage his own team, but later in the game actually gives up his letter from home so that the rest of the tribe can have theirs. But once the characters hit their stride, their pretty good. Skylar makes for an amazing winner, easily up there with Richard Hatch or Will Kirby. Overall, it’s not the best season, but it’s pretty good.
