In which zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well we have a tie between Mudkips and Charmanders. I'll break it by being a Mudkip and the partner being a Charmander, fitting my Elemental Partner rule. This however will bar both from being selected in future games as both hero and partner. Don't worry saddened people, Charmander gets more lines!

"You appear to be...the timid type. You may find it hard to go to the washroom at night. (I remember as a kid being nervous of a toilet flushing behind me at night) You may also find it too frightening to go back to school to get something you left behind in class. (Uh...no.) If you're ever walking on a dark street at night, you probably turn around often to check behind you. (1. I think every lady might do that. Unless they are at the better part of town. 2. I'd have to take a car anyway) But your timid nature is also your good point! Because those who know true fear are those who know true courage. (:) And that explains why in the Palace, the timid ones used attacking moves all the time.)"

And with the knowledge that I am teh Mudkip and picking my Charmander, I head into the game!

Where am I?

Am I dreaming this?

I feel a pleasant breeze.

...I hear a voice from somewhere...

I wonder who it is?

And indeed we are awoken by a friendly Charmander, in a wooded area! He introduces himself and asks about me. I tell him that I am a human, at least but he says that I look like a Mudkip in every way. To my amazement. He then asks for my name to which I say: Handel! (Alt name for twitter is handelgamer. Though if you want some music, I am happy to oblige!) Charmander then laughs at my funny name! What?! I'll raise you the Halleluah chorus and see you laughing then!

But no time for laughing now! A fissue has opened and a Butterfree is asking for help in saving her son, Caterpie as wild pokemon attacked her as she tried to go after him. Well considering the stats on Butterfree's...

Into the mystery dungon! Now these things are randomly generated rooms that shift everytime you enter. The dungeon desgin is kinda bland but there is some great sprite work on the Pokemon, which have sprite work for the moves. Now there is a standard a button attack but you gain more EXP if you bust a move. However, the PP still stands and as such, I only use a move once if my partner isn't around.

Anyway, first floor is easy as I am dropped in the room with the all important stairs in it. And some money. Also a Wrumple. I don't see how that would bother Butterfree so much but...-shrugs- Heck, the Wrumple went down with two attacks from me and Charmander! Really don't see a problem here...

Next floor, dropped into a room with 38 Poke (cash) in it and I move to the right. Near the end of the hallway, I see the stairs on the screen, only to get blocked by a Wrumple. One tackle and he is down. Seriously Butterfree, you should be fine. But then, A SUNKERN! OH NOES! GRASS TYPE! Thankfully, Charmander and I manged to take him down quickly before he could use Absorb. Butterfree, not helping your status as a bug type here!

Room full of nothing, travel down, room with the ever helpful healing item the Oran Berry, nab it, go right, find stairs...find a crying Caterpie. Enter the team to save him! We get out and the thing that keeps me from asking Butterfree why she couldn't save her son is the simple fact of her being so happy. Charmander does note how many fissures and earthquakes there are now. And after gaining out names, Caterpie becomes a fanboy of us. To which "I" find it a little embarrassing but "I" enjoy the praise! We berries (Oran, Rawest the burn heal and Pecha the poison heal) as our reward! The mother and son head off into the sunset with Caterpie gushing about us all the way home.

Charmander then turns to me and asks if I have a place to stay. Of course I don't but he leads me right to a pond surrounded hut. Looks fitting for a Mudkip. And indeed, I am quite happy with it. The Mudkip in me is pleased with water. Charmander, after pointing out a mailbox, tells me that there is alot of natural disasters lately and that Pokemon are hurting because of this. He wants to help these Pokemon in trouble. He then asks us to join him in a rescue team. I know this is a But Thou Must! moments so I say yes. A team name is in order and I have the perfect one! "Phoenix!" Charmander loves it and so we form our team!

"And that is how Handel and Charmander (man I'm going to regret not giving him a nickname) began their careers together as a rescue team."

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team

The next morning...

I sleep. But I awaken! Still a Mudkip though. But why am I a Mudkip? Dunno! Amnesia. But of what kind? We shall see...as soon as save I get more sleep.

That'll end it for today. I shall see you all later! And question Butterfree if you see her, fellow pokemon!

Mystery Dungeon games are always fun. I love my copy of Shiren the Wanderer on the DS, even if I suck at it. From what I've seen, the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games are kinder and gentler. And don't feel bad! I too kinda prefer them to the regular adventures.
