In which we gain knowledge and power

Well, that was fun. Last time we took down our first boss(es), the Venus Eagles and gained access to the next tier of floor! Let's go see what it holds.

Our first battle really doesn't give us a whole lot in terms of difference (only a few stronger Merciless Mayas), but with the second battle appears the Grave Beetle, a huge beetle with a mask on its face. Thankfully it is weak to wind, meaning that Io and Yukari knock it on its back and an All-Out Attack finishes it off. Sadly, Junpei gets fatigued by this last battle, so I guess we'd better head home for now. Along the way to the access point, we find these strange golden shadows, which run off and disappear upon getting spooked. Probably rare, more powerful enemies. One day we'll smack you, golden shadows! One day! Sadly, the sixth floor contains no access point, so we're forced to travel upward again. It also seems that there is another powerful shadow above us. I smell boss fight! Again! The seventh floor also gives us another new enemy, the Obsessed Cupid. Battling one of these things gives Orpheus a level up, so it's all good! Unfortunately, since both Junpei and I are tired, I was forced to call it a day there. Still, all in all that was a successful romp through Tartarus.

The next day, we find ourselves faced with the same students as last week. Seems one of them is drowsy again and another assembly has been called. Joy of joys, an assembly. I can hardly contain my excitement. Yukari speculates that it may be about the recent incidents, but Junpei doesn't care much. One thing both of them can agree on, however, is that the principal sucks at speeching. The speech in question is just a poor knock-off of Mitsuru's. Wow, principal. Wow. Thankfully it's over quickly, and it fades to lunchtime, where Mitsuru has a request for us: meet her after school for some reason. Since she was so polite about it, I have no problem with th- OH GOD WHY DOES THE MATH TEACHER HAVE GIGANTIC TRIANGLES?! Anyway, she wants to know when numbers were invented, and a lucky guess that totally wasn't influenced by Wikipedia gives me the right answer of 6,000 years ago. This gives us a nice little boost to charm. Always nice to get that boosted.

Anyway, Mitsuru's request quickly becomes apparent after school: she wants us to join the Student Council. Barely a month in school and already we're being elevated to lofty positions. We'll become Principal within the year, mark my words! We ask why us ans Mitsuru replies after a hesitation that it's because of our "leadership ability." Sure, Mitsuru, sure. That's why you want me there. We accept graciously, much to Mitsuru's delight, who explains that she's already made an appointment with the faculty adviser. Gee, thanks for coming to us first... Anyway, she wants us to go to the faculty office and talk to Miss Toriumi, so let's do that rather than talk with Kazushi-o-trains-a-lot and Kenji the Kreep. Seriously, we need better social links soon...

Sadly, a wrong turn (that totally wasn't influenced by pdam's advice, nosiree) leads us into a room with a mad scientist, who is... apparently the school nurse. Okay, first thing we're doing upon reaching Principal status is firing this guy. He gives us a strange and horrifying concoction, which we reluctantly drink. It doesn't help our tiredness, but our courage increases, so that's a thing. Anyway, we get the right door this time and talk to Ms Toriumi about the Student Council. She asks us to sign a paper and that's apparently all we need to do. Ah, the first taste of power. Such a glorious feeling. Anyway, let's head on over to the Police Station for the time being and see if there's any new stock following our recent victory. Using our three Empress's Masks, we gain enough money to get some more equipment upgrades for our entire team, so all in all a good journey.

I decide to head back to school to check out the persimmon tree that the old couple in the book shop were talking about. Investigating the tree gives us a persimmon leaf, so I guess that's cool. Maybe the old couple will give us some more info on it with this leaf in hand. Going back to the store gives us a new event, as it seems the old man is interested in the leaf we got. Showing it to him leads to him commenting on how big the tree must have grown, also prompting him to ask if we came just to bring it to them. Since we did we reply with yes, much to his happiness. We also finally get their names, Bunkichi (the man) and Mitsuko (the woman). We also gain a social link from it all, this time of the Hierophant Arcana. Apparently this one is pdam's favourite, so I have high hopes for it. Anyway, that's a fairly good place to stop, so I'm going to call it a day for now. Hope you enjoyed these updates, and I'll see you tomorrow!

Bunkichi and Mitsuko are cool old people.

Also, piece of advice, if you advance the Chariot social link enough, you'll be able to romance Yuko.
