OK, before we face Cecil, we have two bands to learn. First, we make sure Rydia is equipped with a bow and have her Attack while Edge Attacks. This results in Broken Heart. Edge jumps in front of Rydia and a heart appears, which Rydia promptly shoots through, knocking Edge over and hitting all enemies.
For the other Band, Rydia uses Black Magic, Edge uses Ninjitsu and Luca uses Big Throw. This results in Flare Tornado. Rydia and Edge stand at opposite sides to Luca, charging fire spells while Luca throws her axe. The three attacks hit each other causing an explosion and a tornado hitting all enemies.
OK, let's head into Baron Castle now.
Edge: The glow...
Rydia: It's disappeared!
Luca: I hope this isn't a trap...
Golbez: Let's go.
Golbez opens the gate and heads in.
Edge: H-hey! Hold it!
The rest of the group follow. We can only head to the Throne Room, Golbez stops us if we try to go anywhere else.
When we reach the Throne Room, Ceodore's party are already in battle with Cecil and Odin.
Rosa: No!
Kain: Odin!
Odin won't attack us. We have to target Cecil, who can hit pretty hard, but that's it. No White Magic or anything. We can use Blink, but it's just easier to use our strongest attacks (and Bardsong).
Odin: How long has it been, Kain?
Kain: Y-Your Highness!?
Cid: He's right! That's the voice of the late king, rest his soul!
Odin: And look what lies before me... Rosa, Ceodore, all my children of Baron. How could I possibly turn my sword against any of you?
He turns around.
Kain: Your Highness!
Odin: You must save Cecil... and your homeland!
Odin casts something, and Cecil collapses.
Mysterious Girl: !
Cecil: Why? Why... my lord?
Our party runs in.
Golbez: Cecil!
Rosa: Rydia...!
Cid: You!
Cecil: My... brother...
Rosa: !!!
Edge: Aha...
Rydia: So you're...
Kain: Golbez!
The game finally cuts the crap and calls Golbez by name.
Mysterious Girl: You're still alive.
Golbez: Evidently. Not that I have quite as many bodies as you do.
Mysterious Girl: It doesn't matter. You have all outlived your usefulness.
We now fight a Mysterious Girl, with Golbez, Rosa, Ceodore, Rydia and Edge. First step: Edge throws a Spider Silk to Slow her. Next, we Band using Ceodore's Attack and Rydia's Black Magic. This gets us Thunder Wave. Rydia casts a Thunder spell which Ceodore slashes through, hitting all enemies. Now for the main plan. Golbez uses Quake, Cecil and Edge Attack, and when Rosa doesn't have to heal, we band her White Magic and Rydia's Black Magic to get Holy Burst. This causes a huge Holy explosion, hitting all enemies. The Mysterious Girl will take 9999 damage from this. It's enough to make the fight trivial.
Edge: We... we've done it!
Golbez: No, we have not.
Kain: !?
Four more appear.
Mysterious Girl: Well done.
Mysterious Girl: Now I am off to collect the Crystals.
Mysterious Girl: This planet serves no purpose any longer.
The four start to cast something.
Golbez: !
They, and the dead one, vanish. We see a shot of the close moon.
Rosa: Cecil!
Kain: You were the real Cecil all along? I figured as much.
Ceodore: Father!
Golbez: ...
Kain: Do you know anything about those people?
Golbez: More than you do, probably.
Edward: They said that the planet serves no purpose... Do they intend to destroy the world with that moon?
Rydia: They couldn't...!
Edge: Can't you stop it somehow!?
Golbez: It is not the Lunarians' moon. I can't do anything.
Kain: What?
Luca: The Crystals have all been taken up to that moon, right? Cid and I could fix up our airship to travel there!
Cid: I hate to say this, given the situation and all... But we just can't do it, girl. The planet's gravitational pull is too much even for my birds.
Golbez: There is a way.
Kain: Oh?
Golbez calls out the Lunar Whale.
