So, last time we learnt there were several Mysterious Girls. The shitty villain just gets shittier. Anyway, we better get down to the Lunar Core so one of them doesn't kill all the Lunarians. We head into the Subterrane.
This time around, we can explore the full dungeon. From the start, we take the western hidden passage. Unfortunately, there isn't much on this path, just an X-Potion; no treasure has replaced the legendary weapons we found in FFIV.
When we get down to B3, a Crystal shatters. We head through a secret passage to the south getting, among other things, an Icebrand. We finally have something better that the Mythril Hammer.
We continue down to B4. Nothing interesting on this floor. When re reach B5, another Crystal shatters. On this floor we find Ice Armor. Golbez is just becoming a big bundle of ice equipment.
On B6, we can cross the invisible bridge now. Doing so gets us a Luminous Robe, a Soma Drop and a Save Point. Another Crystal shatters when we reach B7. There's no more chests after this point, so we rush our way through the Lunar Core. Another Crystal breaks at B9, then again at B11 and B12. There's only one left now.
Fusoya: No!
Golbez: Please let us reach them in time...!
Meanwhile, at Mount Ordeals...
I shall pray as well, my sons!
In Mysidia...
Elder: Ah!
Porom: What is it, Elder?
Elder: The dragon... It is crying!
Porom: What!?
The Lunar Whale rises and heads for the Red Moon.
Golbez: Father?
Fusoya: Kluya!
Well, let's head up to the sleeping area...
Golbez: The last Crystal has shattered!
Shit. The area starts shaking.
Golbez: What's going on!?
Fusoya: There's no doubt about it! The Crystals are gone... There's nothing left to hold him back any longer!
Golbez: Zeromus!
Fusoya: If we fail, both we Lunarians and the Blue Planet have no hope left. You understand what needs to be done, Golbez!
Golbez: Of course!
We learn Double Black Magic. This Band causes the two of them to cast a random very strong elemental spell or Meteor, all of which are pretty strong.
Zeromus appears before us and we're thrown into a battle with Zeromus's Malice. He's like Zeromus from FFIV, but he's missing his big attacks. Of course, as Golbez and Fusoya are primarily casters, he counters the most effective ways to hurt him. We use Double Black Magic on him, taking a turn to heal when needed.
Eventually...
I... cannot be destroyed...
It uses Big Bang. We drop to 1 HP.
Evil... is evolution... ...at its purest!
Fusoya: It is time, Golbez.
Golbez: !?
Fusoya: to the Blue Planet!
Golbez is teleported out of the fight.
Golbez: Fusoya...
The Lunar Whale arrives. Golbez starts flashbacking to FFIV's ending.
Fusoya: We must go now and sleep. We will pray for the peace of your planet. Come, let us go.
Golbez: Yes...
Rosa: Cecil...
Kain: Are you certain you want to part this way?
Rydia: He's your brother!
Golbez: ...Farewell.
Edge: Cecil!
Cecil: ... Farewell... My brother.
Golbez: Thank you... ...Brother.
The Lunar Whale flies away from the Red Moon. Golbez flashbacks again to the Giant of Babil.
Golbez: What came over me? Why was I filled... with so much hatred?
Fusoya: ...You have regained your true self then. Do you remember your father's name?
Golbez: My father... His name was Kluya.
More flying, more flashbacks. This time we're at the Dwarven Castle.
Music: Golbez, Clad in the Dark
We fight Cecil's party, them hardly hurting us.
Golbez: Hahaha! That is all the power you possess? A pity...
Golbez paralyzes them all.
Golbez: Your eyes should still be free. Open them, and gaze upon true terror! Come forth, creature of shadow!
He summons the Shadow Dragon, KOing everyone but Cecil.
Golbez: You'll be next, Cecil...!
The Mist Dragon appears, killing the Shadow Dragon.
Golbez: An Eidolon... A shadow dragon, destroyed by mere mist?
Cecil is healed.
???: It's all right. You can move now!
Cecil: That voice...
Rydia appears and the flashback ends. Only for the next to begin, this time the fight at the Tower of Zot. Tellah is attacking like mad.
Golbez: Feeble old man! You are nothing before me!
Tellah: Meteor's time has come at last.
Cecil: No, Tellah! You mustn't!
Yang: You'll be the one it destroys!
Tellah: So be it! Let my life fuel the spell that ends his!
Tellah casts Meteor, felling both him and Golbez.
Golbez: Im... impossible!
More flying, and Golbez flashbacks again. We're now at Fabul.
???: Why do you hesitate, Kain?
Golbez enters the room.
Cecil: So you're Golbez...!
Golbez: Cecil, I presume? Never hesitate to kill, Kain. Now see how it is done!
Edward: Cecil!
Yang: I will not allow you to harm him!
Golbez: I did not come to treat with worms.
He casts a lightning bolt that knocks the two away.'''
Golbez: Kain! Enough of this foolishness. Bring me the Crystal.
Kain: My lord.
Rosa: Kain, please!
Kain: !
Cecil: No, Rosa!
Golbez: Oh, you care for this one, do you? Than let me take her along as well... to hold in trust until we are graced with the chance to meet again. Come, Kain!
Golbez grabs Rosa and leaves. Onto the next flashback. This... this is a long time ago. This must be Theodor and baby Cecil.
...
(You must hate him.... That brother of yours...)

The two moons can be seen.
(After all, he is the root of all you've suffered.)

Out of the flashbacks. We're nearly at our destination.
Golbez: No, you're wrong! I'm...
Golbez wakes up.
Golbez: Where... am I?
We look around the Lunar Whale, which for some reason now has two floors. We check the flight controls.
Golbez: ! The moon!
Looks like the Red Moon's caught up. Or is that the other moon? Or a different moon altogether? Eh, whatever. A moon appears to be heading for the planet.
Golbez: Cecil!
