Let's buy some stuff first. Two Flame Swords and two Cross Helms should do it. We then head too the inn. Free, too. These guys give out a suspicious amount of free stays...
That night, Baron soldiers enter the place. Still haven't learnt to lock the door at night, either...
Ceodore: !
Baron Soldier: We've got him.
Hooded Man: Look out, Ceodore!
Three Zombie Infantry. Not a big deal.
Ceodore: Who... who were those soldiers just now!?
Hooded Man: They weren't human... not anymore. Don't show them mercy just because they're from Baron. Otherwise, you'll wind up like that yourself.
Ceodore: I know...
Hooded Man: We need to stay on the move. When day breaks, we'll make for the Underground Waterway to the northeast.
Well, let's go. The Underground Waterway is still the same as it was every other time. We start off finding an Ice Shield, which, oddly, lowers damage from demons, giving it an edge over the Flame Shield. Nothing else of interest until the save point.
Hooded Man: We'll rest here.
Ceodore: But I'm just fine!
Hooded Man: You need to pace yourself. We've got a while to go.
Ceodore: Oh... all right, then.
As they rest, Kain reaches Damcyan.
Kain: You all wait for me here.
Soldier: But, sir...
Kain: Look, I know you're being controlled, but at least value your lives a little.
Well, Evil Kain seems nicer than Mind Controlled Kain.
Soldier: Yes, sir. But if things prove to be more difficult than anticipated...
Kain: Don't count on it.
Time to raid Damcyan Castle. However, nobody seems to be inside. Let's head for the throne.
Kain: You...
Well, Edward's here, surely he can...
Sorry, I had to stop that before I broke down laughing.
Edward: I never expected to see you here, Kain.
We skip back to the Underground Waterway. Ceodore's asleep.
Ceodore: Mo...ther...
We skip ahead to when he wakes up. The first chest after the Save Point is trapped, but gives us an Icebrand. We put that on Ceodore, and he's now got more Attack than the Hooded Man.
The next area gives us Flame Mail, which we put on the Hooded Man for the extra Magic Defence. There is literally nothing of interest until we reach the world map again.
Ceodore: I see sunlight!
Hooded Man: We aren't through this yet. Watch yourself.
Ceodore: Right!
Back at the Damcyan throne room...
Kain: You cleared the room for me, didn't you? Nice to see a show of courtesy from you.
Edward: Mm-hmm.
Kain: Will you continue this act of kindness and hand over the Fire Crystal?
Edward: Is that what you're really after?
Kain: It's not the main thrust of my business... but yes.
Edward: So what are you really after?
Kain: I'm going to kill Cecil.
Edward: Have you seen him yet?
Kain: Not yet. That's why I'm here.
Edward: I see... Sadly, I'm afraid I can't let you have my Crystal.
Kain: Even if it costs your life?
Edward: That's right.
Kain: Let me put you out of your misery, then.
???: Kain, stop!
Rosa runs in. Huh, I guess that's where she's been hiding all this time.
Kain: Rosa!?
Back to Ceodore. Some healing and saving later, and we head into the Underground Lake.
Ceodore: A dead end...
Hooded Man: You got the guts to jump in?
Well, yeah, I'm not Edward.
Ceodore: Of... of course!
'''Hooded Man: Time to see what you're really made of.
Ceodore: Yes, sir!
Down we go. Back to Damcyan.
Kain: Rosa...
Rosa: Kain?
Rosa: Your mind hasn't been...
Kain: No. I'm acting on my own volition.
Rosa: Really?
Kain: Yes... Once I kill Cecil... you will be mine, Rosa!
I imagine that would be a real turn off, actually.
Rosa: Kain!
The soldiers start to file in.
Kain: Sadly, time's up. Give me the final Crystal!
Edward: I believe I've already made myself clear.
Kain: What?
Edward: I refuse.
Edward opened a small box!
Wait, what? The Carnelian Signet activates and wipes out the soldiers.
Kain: A Carnelian Signet!
Edward: Souvenir from Baron.
Kain: All the better for me!
Well, we pick a fight with Edward, who is now the smartest person on the planet.
Rosa: Kain, stop this!
No can do, on auto battle.
Rosa: Kain!
I said no. Edward starts to fight back, but he loses pretty quickly.
Edward: So this... is what you really want?
Rosa: Edward!
Kain: Ah... That's it, that's exactly it.
Back in the lake. Still nothing to talk about. We reach the end.
Ceodore: There's an exit behind the waterfall!
Hooded Man: Ceodore, wait.
A tentacle pops up. You again?
Hooded Man: Guess we aren't getting through without a fight.
Octokraken and four Octoleeches. Leeches can use some magic, but not much worth talking about. Basically just use two Spider Silks then go all out with Cross Slash. Despite my party being really weak to magic, the boss is a joke.
Ceodore: Th-that was intense...
Hooded Man: If this is how violent the monsters are getting, then we must fear the worst...
We head out to the overworld and head to Damcyan. Kain leaves just as we get there.
Ceodore: A Baronian airship!
Hooded Man: We're too late!
Back on the airship, Kain's got the Crystal and Rosa.
Kain: My work in Damcyan is done... Farewell, Edward.
Rosa: Kain, you must stop this madness!
The airship shakes.
Kain: !?
Another airship is attacking!
Cid: Haha! Just in time! The Enterprise ain't no spring chicken, but she's still got some kick! Just like me, y'know!
Rosa: Cid!
Kain: You just won't die, will you? Not that it matters now. Rosa is already in my hands!
He flees.
Ceodore: It's the Enterprise! Cid!?
Hooded Man: Let's go, Ceodore!
Actually, let's leave it there. Next time, we check to see if Edward is okay, then we'll chase after Kain.
