Ceodore's Challenge Dungeon

Hi everybody! Today, we'll be doing the postgame for Ceodore's Tale. Each tale has two things to do after they've been cleared; a rare Tail drop, and a Bonus Dungeon. We'll skip most of the Tails, as they require farming drops, usually from dragons, which are pretty out of our league at this point, only appear on certain moon phases, and have ridiculously low drop rates. We will, however, do the dungeons.

First, we want to grind a bit. Level 23 is a bit low for this place, let's go for 30. Don't worry about getting too overpowered, our levels will cap at some point until later in the game. We also want to buy some Spider Silks from Baron.

And before I forget, the Silver Apple we have goes to Ceodore and the Soma Drop to the Hooded Man.

As we grind, Ceodore learns Float (could have used that earlier). An enemy also drops a pair of Giant's Gloves. Giant's Gloves are pretty awesome for the time being, boosting Strength and Stamina, but it does nothing for our Magic Defence, unlike other gloves. Ceodore gets this pair, and we'll pass the Mythril Gloves down to the Hooded Man.

Once Ceodore hits level 30, we're ready to go. We head for where we first saw Namingway.

Namingway: Oh, hello there, Ceodore. Glad to see you again. It looks like you've completed your adventure for the time being. Congratulations! I can't change people's names any longer, so I've searched instead for other ways to help people. I've tried so many things, in fact, that one could hardly call me Namingway anymore!

Namingway became Challengingway the challenger.

Challengingway: It would appear that you yearn for yet more adventure... I just happen to have the perfect place for you! What do you think? Would you like to explore my Challenge Dungeon?

OK, let's go.

He teleports us to... the Adamant Isle Grotto? Well, not exactly. Each tale has its own unique dungeon. This one is just a re-skin of the grotto with harder enemies and more convoluted hidden passages.

First chest we find is trapped with a Steel Golem. He's not much trouble, but can inflict Sleep. And physical attacks don't cancel Sleep in this game. We get Plate Mail for winning, which is pretty nice.

Luckily for us, the Save Points are still in tact here. We find a Great Bow in the next room. Might be useful in a future tale, I could also equip it on Ceodore, but nah. After a long period of getting lost in hidden passages, we also find a chest that's trapped with a Lamia. Beating her gets us a Mythril Sword. Not bad.

The next room has some Fire Arrows, in case we wanted to use that Great Bow.

Next save point and we'll be ready to... wait a sec, Waning Moon. Let's rest again, going into the end of this dungeon while Attack is up is suicidal.

New Moon! Much better, let's go.

Up where the Knight's Emblem was in the original dungeon is a cloaked figure. Talking to him will start the boss fight.

The Adamantite Golem hits hard. Really hard. First, we want to use a Spider Silk to Slow it, then cast Protect a few times. As time progresses, the Golem gets closer, increasing its attack power. Once he gets close enough, he attacks three times, but is then unable to move for a few turns. At this point, we spam Cross Slash. He falls quickly after that.

Now for our reward. We get... A Silver Apple. Not too bad. We then get ejected from the dungeon.

Now here's where things get interesting. That grand prize is random. The possible rewards include a full set of Mythril armour, an Elixir, a Soma Drop, the Apple we just got, a Flan Ring, and the two main prizes; a chunk of Adamantite and a Lustful Lali-Ho.

Yes, the dwarf porn magazine is important, I don't want to know who thought up that idea.

Anyway, once we're all out of special prizes, we'll get some consumables, which are also nice. Anyway, I'll be here for a while, grabbing the stuff I want. So it might be a while until I start the next tale, I dunno how long it'll take. See you then.
