ThatOneBoss #9 - Noah (and Ahriman, since someone listed him)

Okay before the video link, I DID notice someone listed Arhiman on the That One Boss/Atlus page. Scroll down and I'll humor you if you're really having trouble with him.

Hard Mode Video Guide

Noah isn't as bad as some make him out to be, at least not until he's nearly dead anyway. For the most part, the battle is boring. It probably doesn't help that you can't manipulate press turns the way you normally can (ie. Aurora can not be "dodged"), but that's not as bad as it sounds. The trick is to just keep track of the Aurora pattern. Most turns, he uses Aurora, then the opposite of his non-reflected spell. You can use this to help yourself keep track. He doesn't do this every turn though, so you will need to keep the pattern in mind:

Ice -> Fire -> Force -> Lightning -> Repeat

Keep in mind that it is Aurora that starts and rotates this. This means two things:

  • 1. You can attack w/ anything, including physical attacks until the first Aurora.

  • 2. On the rare turn where he doesn't use Aurora, his vulnerability does not shift.

You can also use Almighty spells no matter what his current elemental opening. Although they are not very powerful, and so you'll want Makakaja if you plan to go that route. Towards the end, he'll start to use dominate to heal himself and steal your magic. He does so more frequently as his health lowers. He also seems to use Dekunda far more often as his health drops. Towards the beginning, he rarely if ever uses it, towards the end, he uses it often enough to be a major threat (about as often as Hell Biker, but thankfully less than Matador). This is particularly problematic since, being an endgame boss, he both hits hard and has high defense. The good news is that by then he'll be close enough to dying that it shouldn't trouble you too much.

ARHIMAN

Uh, I first faced him on hard mode, and found him to be such a joke that I didn't bother to record a video. He was nowhere near worthy of it. His first phase might be troubling at first, but the moment you realize that he forbids specific things, and only when his HP reaches certain way points, it's not so bad. Start with buffs, and debuffs, then before going on the attack, heal up before he forbids it. He'll damage you too little for the healing bans to be a threat. You will need some magic attacks, but you need them for Noah anyway, so it's not too bad.

His second phase......uh, I guess Apocalypse might be bad. Though since he abandons his rules, and you'll be buffed up at this point, it should be fine. He only uses Dekunda about as often as Kagutsuchi, which isn't very much. And, unless he uses Dekunda, then Apocalypse, in that order, in the same turn, you should be fine.

Long story short, take him off the That One Boss/Atlus page, he clearly does not belong.
