Part 3: Accidental Awakening

So sorry for not updating for a few weeks. I had to take a break.

With that said, let's continue.

Three things happened the last time we left off A Light in the Forest: The Legend of Holly Boy. First, we find out one variation of the legend of Holly Boy. Second, we were underway of watching Britta's first day of school, which was hell until she met a few friendly faces. Third...um...I got a Special Edition Pokemon-themed Nintendo DSi. It's the White version with the game that has me catch the sucky Zekrom, not the cool Reshiram—wait. Real third...um...we figure out why Britta's sad, I guess?

Let's get right into...

Part 3

It's lunch time, and right now, Britta and Dave are singing a German song. After that, they talk a bit, with Dave admitting that he wanted to be an performer because, when he was in Germany, he was listening to some recordings of Frank Sinatra. And since it's Hollywood, he thinks he has a shot.

Well, if the part does call for people who know German...

Britta wonders if he wants to be an actor, but noooooo. Dave wants to do it all like his idol. Which sounds pretty hard, but hey, whatever floats his boat. As he leaves to get another drink (which I presume it's orange juice), Britta reaches into her backpack, and she finds holly.

...hm. Whatever could it mean, what with her having a holly?

...oh God. Please say that it doesn't mean Holly Boy's going to fucking stalk her or something, even when he's frozen up. And just when I liked him, too... :(

Cut to the statue of Holly Boy, speaking of. The Energy Ball swishes around a bit at the statue, making the leaves of holly fall. One falls onto the hand, and...cut right back to Britta. She still looks at the holly a bit more, and she places it right back into the backpack.

...yeah.

And we also see the group of female bullies, by the way. One of them laughs obnoxiously (ugh), and they swap gossip. The lead hears that Blair's doing detention once again, and the three focus their attention on Britta. The bully whose laugh was obnoxious wonders what's up with her...because she thinks she's better than anyone else just because she's from Europe.

Uh...what the hell? Apparentally, they haven't seen that her first day's been hell. But hey, since they're bullies, who gives a shit about that?

...

(headdesk)

They also think that, due to this, she's just a rich kid slumming it like Blair, and they laugh again. Jeeze. And they mock her clothes while also wondering what Britta's "old man" would get her for Christmas.

Oh, little do they know...

As they walk over to Britta, they act all nicey-nice towards her. They sit down by her table and introduce themselves to her. The lead bully's named Kelly, and her posse includes Heather, May (the obnoxious laughing one), Danielle, and Tiffany. Once introduced, Heather asks Britta what she'll do for Christmas, and the reply is, well, she doesn't know yet.

Then the bullies go on to talk about what they're getting for Christmas. In front of Britta. Whose parents are, you know, dead. Um...wow. Insensitive much? And they had the gall to ask her what her parents would do.

What the everloving fuck.

Britta, understandably upset, leaves. May asks what her problem is, and they go on to mock the shit out of the poor girl. Dear God. I can't think of another person I hate, but now I think I may have finally found a group of people I hate.

And to make matters worse, Dave shows up. He asks where Britta is, and the bullies go on to say about how weird she is. Disgusted with their behavior, as he should be, he packs up and leaves.

Cut to outside the school. Specifically, in the forest. Britta runs until she sits down on a table, where she cries a bit. Aww...

Then a woman appears, of course played by Lindsay Wagner, the (current-ish, since the show's not on anymore) Bionic Woman herself. She asks Britta if she's okay, but she lies by saying that she's fine. The woman, Miss Audrey, then goes on to say that the forest is not on school property, but Britta already knows that.

Audrey asks Britta if she wants to talk about it, going on to say that a lot of people get depressed in this time of year. The thing is, a lot of people aren't from "here", whatever that is. Presumably it means homesickness. Audrey then tells Britta how Los Angeles is a lot different from Europe: no snow, palm trees, 90-degree (i.e. FUCKING HOT) weather, the works.

To summarize, it isn't easy trying to fit in, but there are ways to keep the Christmas spirit alive. It isn't always easy with that, either, though, but being super-nice and doing acts of kindness always works. And telling family members how much they love them...

Oh, wait. As we know, Britta's parents are dead. Apparentally, there was an accident, which meant that she would live with her grandmother. Damn. That...sucks. And all she wants is to be happy again, which is, again, understandable.

As Audrey tries to comfort the poor girl, she gets a phone call. Ms. Sanchez wants her to make signs for her next class, and Britta politely tells her to leave, which she does. But not before Audrey tells the girl something she already knows: the statue. And how she and her grandmother saw that statue. Then Audrey admits that every time when she's down and saw the statue, she's happy again.

Well, yeah.

Britta walks over to the statue after Audrey leaves. She asks Holly Boy that she wants to be happy again. As soon as she says that, she leaves. But little does she know that she'll get more than what's bargained for.

Because her sadness awakens Holly Boy at last, depetrifying him!

Finally.

After he regains consciousness, he mutters Britta's name, and...he disappears. The little Energy Ball appears in a school hallway, and...either Holly Boy's human form or his avatar or some shit appears. If it's his human form, how the hell did he learn how to become that? And with wearing modern clothing, at that?

I'm just going to say that it's his earthen avatar and leave it at that.

Anyway. Holly Boy's earthen avatar, which I'll just name him "Chris" for now, makes the entire hallway more Christmas-y. With magic.

Cut to the principal's office, and he asks a guy if he wants to give the school a truckload of money. Which he wants to. But how and why?

Well, we won't know, because it's the end of this installment! Will Britta find happiness? Will Chris not try to stalk her? Will the bullies stop being so damn insensitive? And what's up with the truckload of money, anyway?

All of these questions and more will be revealed on the next livebloggening of A Light in the Forest: The Legend of Holly Boy!
