Chapter 29: Putting Down the Family Pet (Cog of Destiny)

Chapter 29:

At last, we finally made it to our goal, the Shrine of Seals. Our relief at almost completing the next part of our journey was barely able to set in, when more Black Fang assassins rushed us. They claimed to be working for Linus, the Mad Dog. Nino wanted us to end this peacefully, but Jaffar's words about them wanting us all dead seemed to ring true to me.

Hector: Hector guarded Merlinus. While waiting, a small group of Wyvern knights came his way, lead by the scarred woman from the castle. She informed us that she knows that we saved the Prince, and that she was to repay the countries debt by helping us. When she flew off, Hector had the task of defeated the remaining Wyvern Knights that were attacking Merlinus. I kinda regret not leaving another guard so the job would get done much faster.

Serra: She followed Fiora and helped her out however she could. Despite my best efforts, she has barely been getting any more magical power. It's getting annoying. She was later tasked with keeping the nearby village safe. Inside was a weird knight, who immediately said that he didn't see them here. Before we went, he gave her a Warp Staff, as a thank you for Zephiel. Guess he was aware of the almost-assassination.

Kent: Kent went on north east path into the cavalry units.

Lucius: Followed the Berserkers with spells.

Dart: Once again he paired up with Hawkeye, this time into the group of armour knights in the center. He grew a lot more powerful in this fight.

Fiora: Fiora took the western path, into the small group of myrmidons. In the process, she got to the point where I don't think she'll grow anymore powerful on this adventure.

Hawkeye: Followed Dart into the armour knight squad.

Marcus: Followed along and got hit a few times.

Legault: Hung around, and did nothing.

Matthew: I had a couple things I wanted him to take, but he was unable too. They weren't that important though

Louise: She had a chat with Pent about how happy Etruria will be to know more info about the Shrine of Seals. She also dodged a few attacks

Pent: Talked with her wife about their love for each other

Oswin: He's still doing what little he can.

Jaffar: Jaffar is proving to be an AMAZING dodger

Linus was very pissed about us supposedly killing his brother, and I don't think he would have listened to the truth. Instead, I had Fiora, Kent, and Lucius put down this Mad Dog.

Nino was very heartbroken that we were unable to convince her brother to stop fighting. At the same time, Athos arrived from the desert, using his warping power to get here in an instant (this annoyed Hector who wondered why he didn't just save us a lot of effort). With everyone gathered, he teleported us to meet Bramimond, the other warrior of legend that still lives. He's the one tasked with keeping the Weapon seals in check. We went to see the mysterious keeper of the seal and tried to ask him to remove the seals, but he kept changing his personality and telling us that the world was better off with the seals in place. Athos was able to convince him that our group would not be seduced by the power of the Divine Weapons, and with that, Bramimond unsealed the seals of all the weapons in Elibe. We began to make plans to start acquiring the weapons, but before we could set off, Nergal appeared before us. He said that his power had been restored from the wounds he had received before, and that he could once again try to kidnap Ninian and Nils to open the gate. Nils tried to stay away, but Ninian made a deal with Nergal, that if she goes, her brother stays behind. Nergal agreed, and, after transferring her power back to Nils, she left with him before we were able to do anything. Before he left, he knocked out Nils and Eliwood, showing us just how powerful he was now. The next day we got ready to collect the Divine Weapons. Before we left, Athos gave Hector a Heaven's Seal. It seemed that he was finally ready to gain even more power.

Due to time issues, we've decided that we only have time to collect a couple of the weapons. A Sword will be gotten for Eliwood or Lyn (though neither of them are in the state to wield it so we'll see how that goes) and Hector will get a new axe. With his new upgrade, he's ready to get into another scrap. He also seems to think that Oswin is hiding something from him concerning his brother. We have more things to do, so that last thing we need is Hector losing his cool.
