Chapter 22: Armor so bright, you can see your reflection! (Kinship's Bond)

Chapter 22:

And so we arrived at our next stop a fort on the border of Ostia. We planned to have a meeting with Uther, the Marquess of Ostia. As we waited, Nils began to feel unwell and he fainted. Ninian insisted that he would feel better as long as we didn't move him for the night, so we followed her wishes. Not surprisingly, enemy forces decided that this would be a great time to attack us.

Once again, Eliwood and Lyn insisted on being in the party. I appreciate their concerns, but I'm going to need to start putting my foot down on this one. They're too sick and injured to fight, and their people need them more than I do.

Hector: Hector went towards the west door. He soon ran into a Wyvern Rider who had begun to attack Matthew, but the man soon hesitated to strike again. Before Hector was able to kill the man that tried to hurt his friend, the Rider dropped his weapons and asked to speak to the leader. His name was Heath, and he apparently didn't want to hurt woman or children. Hector agreed, and told him to stay in the back away from the fighting to protect the younger members of the group. He then told the other protectors to leave the gate to him.

Serra: She provided support for the units going to the main entrance. The two of us have been discussing if she should start training in Light Magic. She hasn't fully mastered healing staves, but with the situation the way it is, it may be beneficial to have someone to help out Lucius.

Kent: Kent's job was to watch over the eastern entrance. One of the Cavaliers that he killed dropped a Knight's Crest that he must have been saving for himself. This was a stroke of good fortune for Kent, who has needed one of these for a good while. When he found a moment to take a breather, he promptly attached the crest to his chest. A bright light shined around him, and when it dissipated, Kent now had the shining armor and strong horse of a Paladin. His first order of duty in his new position was to take out a Ballista that was clogging things up, and then go for the leader, Eubans.

Lucius: Lucius was one of the many people helping to thin the numbers at the main entrance.

Dart: Dart went to protect the western entrance.

Fiora: Fiora provided backup support on the western entrance, and then went back to the main one to help out the main defenders.

Oswin: Oswin was one of the protectors of the main entrance:

Marcus: Went south to protect the main entrance

Eliwood: He mostly stayed out of the way.

Lyn: Lyn stayed behind the Armor Knights by the east entrance. Soon, some mercenaries on our side came out to provide support, and a familiar man galloped past her to take out a mage. It was Rath, of the Kutolah tribe, a companion from the last adventure we had. When Lyn explained the situation, he offered to help us out. He'll mainly be helping to watch over the camps at night.

Guy: Legault had informed us that the Black Fang sometimes used this spot as an emergency supply station, and that there was a secret shop near here. We decided to give Guy the Member's Card so that he could purchase some supplies from there.

Isadora: She gave her stuff to other people, and went south to protect the main way in. (It's probably for the best that she stays out of combat anyways, she's WAY too small to be a Paladin anyways...I mean, SIX CON?!)

Legault: Legault was fast and had decent defense, so I've given him the job of meatshielding when needed.

Matthew: I had Matthew go west so he could collect the treasures that were over there. He found a Thief that tried to beat him over there, but he was able to relieve the gent of his Lockpick, which is perfect because Matthew's old one is starting to wear out, and Legault left too quickly to grab his own back on Valor.

Eubans was a tricky customer, wielding a powerful spear that was stronger, lighter, and more efficient than the average Javelin. Despite this, Kent had no trouble with having a lance chucking duel with him, and he fell.

With Eubans defeated, we were able to begin our meeting with Uther. We reported to him what we knew of Nergal’s plans to bring dragons back into the world, and Ninian was able to determine that Nergal was far to the east, in the land of Bern. Uther suggested that before we go to Bern, we visit the Nabata Desert and meet "the living legend". He later made his brother promise that he not die. It won't be happening under my watch, at least.
