Character creation in Eden Eternal is... Not as open as I'd like. But it is only the Closed Beta, and it looks like more content will be added, so... Here's to hoping.

Nothing really interesting on the initial loadup.

If you look to the right, you'll see the test screen. First, there's a name input screen. Then there's race selection. (Only humans are available right now. But then, Closed Beta...)

Below that is the appearance section. You have five faces, eleven hairs, fifteen hair colours, ten skin colours, and fifteen eye colours to choose from.

Below that, you can see the different classes you can eventually choose from. In order, top to bottom, left to right, these are;

  • Yellow: Warrior, Knight, Templar;
  • Red: Thief, Martial Artist, Blade Dancer;
  • Green: Hunter, Engineer, Ranger;
  • Blue: Cleric, Bard, Shaman;
  • Purple: Mage, Illusionist, Warlock.

The class system here actually has a fairly unique gimmick. But you'll have to wait a while to find out.

In the end, I present to you Arantin, our player character.

But wait! There's still more!

You're given the choice between one of two classes to start off with- Warrior and Mage. (I chose Warrior, as I'm fairly good at tanking.)

Below the class selection, on the right-hand side, there's a list of eight traits. These Heroic Traits influence your character's growth as you play, so you'll want to choose the one that suits your play style the best.

Heroic Traits-

  • Leadership: HP and MP + 12%.
  • Guardian: Defence + 10%, Elemental Resistance + 5%.
  • Apostle: Intelligence + 10%, Magic Attack + 5%.
  • Commando: Strength + 10%, Physical Attack + 5%.
  • Sanctum: Wisdom + 15%, General Healing + 5%.
  • Maverick: Agility + 10%, Attack Speed + 5%.
  • Adventurer: Luck + 10%, Critical Damage + 10%.
  • Crack Shot: Luck + 10%, Magic-Critical Damage + 10%.

After several moments of intense deliberation, by which I mean closing my eyes and clicking at random, I select the Commando Trait. Looks like I'm a damage-dealer. Fun.

After hitting Confirm, I'm sent through a cutscene. Blah blah blah, backstory, creatures and humans living in harmony, harmony fell apart, wise human groups rose up and established human dominance, et etc etc

After the obligatory scene, we're thrust into the world at last.
