Lumina: The leader must have been busy with other things.
Yellow: With the Fighting Dojo stripped of it's status just recently, that leaves 7 Gyms, and this one... It seems strange that the League would open itself up to challenges, then let one of their gyms go under. Unless something really screwy was going on somewhere in the chain. I think this place is worth another look...
"Viridian Gym's leader returned!"

Yellow: ...
Gym Guy: Yo! Champ in making! Even I don't know Viridian Leader's identity! This will be the toughest of all the Gym Leaders! I heard that the trainers here like ground-type Pokemon!
Yellow: Say, you haven't seen the Gym Leader, and the Sign outside hasn't stood up to the elements well... But there's one other place the Gym Leader's name is written: The statues you're standing right next to.
Gym Guy: Well Blow me down! I got so caught up in strategy I never thought to look. Hang on...

Gym Guy: Blow me away! Everyone knows this name-!
Yellow: Everyone, huh? That brings up even more questions...
Lumina: So you've finally figured it out.
Yellow: Giovanni. But I've fought him twice already, I know exactly how to counter him!

Yellow: No point wasting time on this guy. (But he didn't use Ground Types... I guess Giovanni knows a bit about variety.}
Blackbelt: Karate is the ultimate form of martial Arts!
Yellow: ...I wouldn't know.

Cooltrainer: Viridian Gym was closed for a long time, but now our Leader is back!
Yellow: About time. (It's just as well it was closed. Me and Lumina wouldn't have stood a chance back at the start.}

Yellow: Yeah, I do. I've fought him before, but since his identity as the leader, I never thought to ask for the badge. (Funny how he's publicly known as a crook, but his legitimate ID was forgotten. There's gotta be a story there.)
Cooltrainer: The truly talented win with style!

Blackbelt: I'm the Karate King! Your fate rests with me!
Yellow: I've met the Karate King, and a thug like you doesn't even compare!

Yellow: You were the last Gym Trainer. Once I expose your Leader, I can finally answer the Pokemon League's challenge.
Blackbelt: Pokemon League? You? Don't get cocky!
Lumina: Don't listen. There's no-one who deserves it more.
Yellow: This is it, time to be a hero again.
Giovanni: Fwahahaha! This is my hideout! I planned to resurrect Team Rocket here! But, you have caught me again! So be it! This time, I'm not holding back!
Lumina: Let's see how good you really are with brute force.
Yellow: You were holding back? Uh, I don't see why you would, but I can take anything now!
Giovanni: Once more, you shall face Giovanni, the greatest trainer!

Yellow. No good. Switch in, Leviat!
Giovanni: Yellow. I must ask, did you know I was here, or did you just come for the Earthbadge?
{Round 3: Dugtrio comes up, but Leviat just floats above it.}
Yellow: Well, I was looking for the last Gym Leader. I didn't expect you.
Giovanni: Ah...
{Round 4: Dugtrio causes an Earthquake, but Leviat floats above it carrying Yellow and washes the triple-mole away with Surf.}
Giovanni: (It seems Purple didn't try to expose me after I let him win.) Your move, Persian. ...On another matter, why do you care about fighting the Pokemon League? (Lv 53)
Yellow: Switch in, Nyte! Surf! ... Why do you ask?
{Round 5: Persian screeches, but Nyte doesn't listen. Surf strikes true with a critical hit. Hp 89/89 vs 35%}
Giovanni: Mere curiosity. You play the hero, but... is that the real you? Did you realize, becoming the Pokemon Champion would be one way of building a power base to conquer the world for yourself...
Yellow: I'm not you.
{Round 6: Persian screeches again, but is finished off by Surf. Nyte grows to level 40}
Giovanni:...I see. Nidoqueen! (Lv 53)
Yellow: Your turn, Charles! Psychic!
{Round 7: Charles gets a critical hit, and Nidoqueen is instantly defeated. Charles grows to level 40}
Giovanni: Nidoking! (Lv 55)
Yellow: Leviat! You know, my hardest fight was against Brock. His ground Types were immune to Pikachu's best moves, and I had no other Pokemon then.
Lumina: I'd made him promise not to catch any other Pokemon.
Giovanni: You've miscalculated. (You'd trust him after he gave up on that?)
Lumina: He never did. Everyone else... was a gift or a purchase. Quite a few of them from you, actually.
{Round 8: Nidoking uses thunder, but misses! Leviat's Surf hits afterwards. Hp 129/129 vs 40%}

Yellow: That's the problem with big, powerful moves: they're really hard to aim.
{Round 9: Giovanni uses a Guard Spec - a fatal miscalculation, as Nidoking misses it's last chance to attack before he is washed away.}
Giovanni: (My organization ended up furthering the person who ruined it?) Rhydon! Rock Slide! (Lv 55)
Leviat: You waste your breath!
{Round 10: Rhydon falls. Leviat grows to level 39}
Giovanni: Ha! That was a truly intense fight! You have won! As proof, here is the Earthbadge!

Giovanni: The Earthbadge makes Pokemon of any level obey! It is evidence as your mastery as a Pokemon trainer! With it, you can enter the Pokemon League!
Yellow and Lumina: (We really won...)
Giovanni: It is my gift for your Pokemon League challenge!
