Chapter 29: Another Story, Part 2

  • Pokemon Mansion

{Progress is difficult, As while the wild Pokemon have no concept of tactics, They are capable of easily beating most of Yellow's team if they think to use their actual attacks. Torte grows to level 32 on one retreat, but eventually, Yellow reaches that ledge again and jumps down to an isolated section of the first floor.}

Yellow: No turning back that way anymore...

Scientist: Who are you? There shouldn't be anyone here.

{This scientist uses Lv 29 Electrode and Weezing. Elliot grows to level 28 when Electrode explodes, then sings Weezing to sleep before washing it away.}

Scientist: Ouch!

Yellow: It'd be nice if I could get into the gym...

Scientist: A key? I don't know what you're talking about.

Yellow: Who said anything about a key? (There's really been no indication at all that exploring this place will help me get into the Gym. But, it would be nice.)

{Yellow finds a Carbos, a starway to a basement level, as well as an alternate exit. Nyte grows to level 32}

Yellow: Wait a minute, I've been in this hallway before... it's just that the Shutters are in a different arrangement! All the switches I had to press to get around upstairs must have affected this floor too. Funny, I didn't see a second entrance from outside...

{Indeed, after stepping through, Yellow turns around and sees himself at the Mansion's front porch, as if he went out the main entrance.}

Yellow: Wait, that's... just impossible... I should have come out at that corner... What...?

{In any case, at least he has a shortcut out for when he reaches the bottom levels again. On another attempt, Elliot grows to level 29.}

  • Basement

Diary: Sept 1 Mewtwo is far too powerful. We have failed to curb its vicious tendencies...

Yellow: I wonder... was Mewtwo responsible for trashing this place?

Lumina: Mewtwo... Just how powerful would that be?

{Elliot grows to level 30}

Burglar: Uh-oh. Where am I now?

{This one has Lv. 34 Growlithe and Ponyta.}

Burglar: Awooh! You can find stuff lying around.

{Yellow finds a Tm 14: Blizzard. The most powerful Ice move in the world. But it's so valuable, he doesn't know which Pokemon to teach it to yet. After throwing another switch, he finds a Full Restore.}

Scientist: This place is ideal for a lab.

Yellow: Maybe once, but it's a mess now.

{This one has Lv 34 Magnemite and Electrode}

Elliot: Hm, what a stylish new technique. Confusing an opponent can be almost as good as putting them to sleep, and much easier.

{Elliot reached level 31 and learned Confuse Ray over Water Gun.}

Scientist: What was that for? I like it here! It's conductive to my studies!

Yellow: Okay, then. Good luck!

{Elliot grows to level 32, but half of the team ends up taken down by wild Muk and Raticate}

Yellow: Darn it... this is the last area, I can feel it...

{Yellow finds a Rare Candy, Tm 22 Solarbeam (powerful, but too slow to be practical), and a strange key.}

Yellow: There really was a key here? Maybe it really does go to the Gym... but what kind of Gym Leader would intentionally lock out challengers? Ah forget it, I've got more important things to worry about. go, Escape Rope!
