Hiker: Keep it coming, eh! Oh wait. I'm out of Pokemon!
{Squirtle evolves into Wartortle}
Wartortle: Alright! Now you'll see some real waterpower!
Gyarados: You may have improved, but you're still not at our level yet.
Pikachu: Be nice, there's no need for teammates to fight.
Hiker: You sure had guts standing up to me there, eh?
Yellow: It's easy to have guts when your backup is as good as mine.
Youngster: I aim to be the ultimate trainer! (Lv 24 Sandshrew)

Pikachu: Drop the attitude, it's never going to help you. All your troublemaking did was get you caught.
Wartortle: ...
Pikachu: You were inexperienced compared to Vermillion City, Weak to their signature Electric master, and Weak to all the Grass pokemon outside. All this posturing is just suicidal. You've been lucky enough to get a trainer who's willing to help you get stronger, and teammates who can cover your back in the meantime. But don't make us not like it.

Yellow: I expected that. Which is another reason why I decided to let Wartortle take the lead. He's done a good job so far, and has just about caught up with the rest of the team.

Gyarados: Hmph! You have done well, but when you actually need to compete for your role on the team, you will see your true measure!
