Afterthoughts: Just killing off the last few metroids in this area. On that Gamma behind the wall, however...
I've always thought you were somehow supposed to shoot missiles at that thing through the wall, which sort of worked for me in the past. But as it turns out, in the room right before it (you know, the tunnel right after the alpha), the shedded metroid skin is actually on top of a small tunnel that leads to the gamma's room, allowing for a more conventional method of attack.
I felt so stupid after that.
