37: Rumor of the Mischievous Water Monster

The rune cluster on Whale Island is still on his mind, so that is where he plans to spend most of his day. Rosetta thinks that her store could do with more flowers, so Raguna gives her a moondrop to help spice the place up. He tends to his dungeon plants, and then climbs the stalk outside of his tower to continue his investigation.

The whale speaks to him again upon his ascension, asking for a favor. It speaks of a water monster that has rested on its back for a while, but has gotten very violent as of late. Luckily, Raguna has his Flame Saber handy, just in case it gets rowdy on him, so he readily accepts. He can't complete the journey yet, as he's nearly crushed to death by falling fruit from the Tail Tree, so he retreats and chooses to live to fight another day.

Selphy says she's having a clearance on books every Tuesday, but the only books Raguna can find are about swimsuit patterns and toys, both of which are way out of his price range.

Raguna takes Biggie out at night with him to watch the Wooly constellation. This brings them a little bit closer to each other. (He didn't take Wooly out with him, because that would have made too much sense.)

He heads to the Lava Ruins early the next morning to take care of business as unusual. He learns that there are much more than four floors to this place, as was true of the Green Ruins.

On his way to B4, he encounters more of the bomb-launching devices. One path to the west of the stairs has a boulder blocking it. He doesn't think that his hammer is good enough to break it, so he leaves it alone. The monsters are getting tougher still as he continues to descend, as he now encounters giants who can stun him with one punch.

At 2 PM, he leaves to check on his animals, which he had forgotten to brush and milk. They all seem incredibly happy because the Runeys are taking care of them.

Anette gives him a letter the next day, notifying him of the Pumpkin festival. Even Cinnamon is excited.

Raguna returns a slip of paper to Bianca regarding Francoise. "When the elephant gazes at the stars, water shall erupt from the trunk." How poetic. Bianca thinks it's referring to some kind of treasure, and says that if Raguna finds it, she wants him to split it 50/50. (B-but you've already got enough money...)

In preparation for the pumpkin festival, Raguna goes to Erik's shop and buys a fresh pumpkin, since he didn't have enough time to grow his own. He has the Insect hide necessary to make the mask, and he finds out he can make one better (just slightly so) than the masks Rosetta is selling.

He buys a book on intermediate one-handed swords from Selphy, then goes home to make a Sakura blade. Real men fight with pink swords, it seems, but this blade has some bite...it has a chance to poison its target, and it also leeches a bit of health. It's safe to say this this weapon will serve as a replacement for the Flame Sabre Raguna's been using all this time.
