New day, breakfasted as I was leaving San Antonio. Took a breath of fresh air in Austin, and now we're briefly parked outside of Austin waiting for a freight train to pass.

  • This part of Texas reminds me of New York, though this time of year it'd be covered in snow. Still a lot more flat areas and plains than New York.

Chewing on some caffiene gum, so I'm feeling perky. I've been getting up early, which is nice, but I still have the bad habit of going to bed late. Strange, considering it gets dark around 1800 or so. Oh well, I think I'm sleeping better as I get used to the train.

One tip, I prefer to brush my teeth while I shower, rather than deal with the bathroom sinks. Kinda reminds me of college, actually. I think the upstairs sleepers have sinks in the room.

I think the bathrooms would be better if they were bigger, but I wonder if it would help to paint a landscape or something on the walls to make it look bigger.

I'm in the lounge now. Lots of what I believe are called captain's chairs facing the sides of the car, which are big picture windows.

Breakfast was french toast. They always pair you up to eat with someone else, which is a good way to meet people. I had a nice conversation with a cool old lady. People are interesting.

Hmm...I wonder if it would be better to leave the lower bunk as seats and just use the top bunk to sleep. Tonight, I guess.
