Prologue: Welcomes and information

Hello, all who are currently reading this! This is the opening page of what will be the storage place for all my liveblogs of the Fire Emblem series of games. In here, I will be updating chapter by chapter as I play through the games and hopefully make those updates as fun to read as possible!

The next page will be a Table of Contents, since this will eventually get fairly large, and it will make categorizing which games are being covered in which liveblog installments much easier.

Continue forth onto the next page, and hopefully enjoy your time reading!

I imagine situations like this are meant to be your rationale for bringing Merlinus. Unexpected boss switch (twice)! Good thing I can still pull out the Wyrmslayer I didn't know I needed!

But mages are so good at fighting dragons you can get by anyway. Forblaze ends up being slightly redundant because of it.

Try not to use Aircalibur too much until 14. You'll really need it then.

As for Ray. Lugh, but with better damage and a little less Evade.

And Ray is a shaman, so there's that. Not much difference besides that stuff, eh? Thanks for the tip on the Aircalibur.

I could see the who dragon scenario being a rationale for bringing Merlinus, but I doubt I will be faced with random dragons that often, and even if I am, ol' Lugh can simply blast them with magic.

"I doubt I will be faced with random dragons that often"

Ha. Alfric made a funny.

And if the Unexpected Boss Switch caught you off this chapter... oh boy...

You haven't seen the Real Bait and Switch Festival yet.

@hnd: I honestly don't know why Alfric ought to save Aircalibur, I can't think of any pressing need for it on 14 and the new recruit has one in their starting inventory anyway.

Also, yeah, that was the last boss dragon until endgame...

Can new character get around very easily? No.

Of course, I meant you could trade with her, sorry I wasn't clear.

Though she needs to be able to hold her own too. Just because she's not very good doesn't mean she can't put up a good fight. Besides, Aircalibur is Lugh's most powerful weapon at this point that happens to be essentially weightless and he isn't known for high Magic growth. And he's going to need it if he wants to hit decently hard on anything with good Resistance.

My Lugh so far has had decent magic, with 17 as a level 1 sage after promotion bonuses, but I wouldn't say it's his best stat. I'll keep Aircalibur in mind, but I'll try to conserve it unless I really need it, since I doubt they're exactly plentiful until later on.

As for the dragons, at least I know Lugh can take them down pretty well, and eventually Clarine and Ellen too once they promote, so they shouldn't be too big of an issue. Plus I'll be able to see any Manaketes just casually waiting on the map, and bring a wyrmslayer to take them down.

Also, more bait-and-switch bosses? That doesn't sound at all fun for me, since I kind of like preparing to kill them in advance.
