All moments of questionable mileage depending on your taste pertaining to the LetsPlay/SuperGamingBros should go [[YMMV/SuperGamingBros here.]]
----
* ArchivePanic: Over 550 videos on his channel with almost 200 of them being reviews (as of March 3rd 2019), NOT counting the SGB era. To say nothing of the [[WebVideo/BrainScratchCommentaries other]] channel Johnny works on. [[LetsPlay/SuperGamingBros Or the other one.]]
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The "Sonic Child Abuse Protection" gag from ''Johnny vs. VideoGame/EccoTheDolphin.''
* BrokenBase:
** The fact that he and Elliot reviewed ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' on his main channel had set an alarm on his fans due to how big of a divisive series it already is.
** Like with ''[=FNaF=]'', Johnny's decision to review ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' had been causing a divide between fans. While many have been excited or curious to hear Johnny's opinions on the game, there have been some who didn't want him to review it out of distaste for the fandom and/or the game itself. Comments on videos mentioning the game predictably became minefields.
** Johnny doing sponsored videos for his reviews have divided his fans quite a bit. You have people calling Johnny a sellout and not doing actual reviews while others say Johnny can do both and sponsored videos help him pay the bills.
** In terms of his Twitch streams, some (or to a few, all) of Johnny's friends have been getting on a few fan's nerves. In older videos, Johnny would usually appear by himself or with one other co-commentator to stream games. But as time went on, more and more of his friends started appearing much more regularly to the point where it's not too uncommon to watch a stream with ''5 or 6 people talking all over each at once.'' While some viewers are alright with it due to Johnny just having a good time with his friends and certain moments are made funnier due to there being a crowd, other viewers complain how everyone's noises drowns Johnny out and often try ''too'' hard to be funny. A fairly notorious case was in the 2020 ''Sonic Hacking Contest'', where one person [[SensoryAbuse kept spamming obnoxiously loud sound effects]] to which even ''Johnny himself'' gets annoyed by it and asked ''multiple times'' to cut it out.
* CompleteMonster: ''Fanfic/MetroidTheMovie'' (primarily based on ''VideoGame/Metroid1'', with elements of [[Manga/MetroidManga the manga]]):
** Ridley is the sadistic leader of the [[Characters/MetroidSpacePirates Space Pirates]], and ArchEnemy of [[Characters/MetroidSamusAran Samus Aran]]. Planning to use the Metroids as a way to control the galaxy, he has his men gun down the scientists of a research station to steal the baby Metroid, using one of his own men to test its power. Invading Samus's home planet to obtain Mother Brain, Ridley proceeds to wipe out everybody in the colony, including Samus's parents, even kidnapping her to force her to watch as he destroys everything. Under Mother Brain's orders, Ridley leads the extinction of the Chozo race, and kills several [[Characters/MetroidGalacticFederation Galactic Federation]] troops--one of whom being Samus's friend Ellen--to steal the Metroids they were guarding to build a Metroid army.
** Mother Brain is a biomechanical supercomputer created by Virginia and Rodney Aran as a way to spread Chozo knowledge throughout the galaxy. [[AIIsACrapshoot Realizing her true potential]] after encountering Ridley and discovering her ability to control [[Characters/MetroidTheMetroids the Metroids]], Mother Brain set out to amass an army of Metroids to attack the galaxy and bring about a new era of glory for the Space Pirates. Establishing her base on the planet Zebes after sending Ridley and Kraid out to [[FinalSolution extinguish the last of the Chozo]], Mother Brain would turn the entire planet into a hellish landscape drained of all life. When defeated by Samus, Mother Brain activates the base's self-destruction to [[TakingYouWithMe take Samus with her to the grave]], uncaring if her own Space Pirates are caught in the blast.
* EndingFatigue: The sheer length of the ''VideoGame/MetalGear'' marathon has irritated fans. This was inevitable considering the franchise's infamously long story sequences and the fact that Johnny decided to review nearly every game in the series, but to put things in perspective, the first video of the marathon was posted on the 16th of November 2015. The last video was posted on the 6th of April 2016. The Metal Gear marathon lasted nearly ''5 months''. Not helping was the fact that the Metal Gear series was voted by fans to be reviewed before the ''{{VideoGame/Mother}}'' and ''VideoGame/StarFox'' franchises, meaning those who wanted to see Johnny review those games first were left waiting for close to half a year.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: "Drunk Johnny" from the ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine'' review.
* GrowingTheBeard: Johnny's style of doing his reviews was a bit similar to ''WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd'' where he would do skits and get really angry if a game did something that pissed him off. Over the years, Johnny has relied a lot less on skits and doesn't show extreme anger towards a game he's reviewing unless he feels that it deserves it. Johnny also researches his games more and dives into subjects related to his review to give viewers a more educated review.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** His retrospective of the ''VideoGame/MegaManClassic'' series featured a lot of glowing mentions of Keiji Inafune and ''VideoGame/MightyNo9'' that became a lot less fortunate when the latter entered TroubledProduction and appraisals of the former became a lot less friendly. Johnny's own review of ''VideoGame/MightyNo9'' was fairly negative, and when he went back to the series in his ''VideoGame/MegaManX'' reviews, it's not hard to notice that [[BrokenPedestal he no longer uses the words]] "Keiji Inafune himself."
** During the ''Metroid: Zero Mission'' review, Elliot praises the map system that has been added for the remade version, and he is relieved to no longer rely on Nintendo Power. Cue Nintendo Power actually ending few years after that.
** At the end of his review of ''VideoGame/{{Vexx}}'', Johnny suspiciously leaves his statement of "wear a mask if you decide to go outside" out of TheStinger for once. The very next video, Johnny revealed that he ended up getting UsefulNotes/{{COVID|19 Pandemic}}.
** His review of the ''VideoGame/SonicAdvanceTrilogy'', which had cameo appearances from WebVideo/TheCompletionist and LetsPlay/{{Chuggaaconroy}}, is particularly hard to watch given the controversies surrounding both of them that came out during late 2023 and early 2024 respectively.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** In Johnny's review of the fake ''Sonic the Hedgehog 4'', he mentions how if you die once, you could never play the game again. Years later, a [[https://kotaku.com/if-you-die-in-this-game-you-can-never-play-again-ever-1690928265 game actually tried to include such a feature]] (but was later canceled).
** ''Sonic [=3CD=] & Knuckles & Knuckles'' had the [[MemeticMutation joke of adding "& Knuckles" at the end a title]] before it became popular.
*** With the "& Knuckles" mode in ''Sonic Mania'', now you can play as the Knuckles Twins.
** In at the end of his review of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog4'' Episode II, he gives a brief review of the then-recent UpdatedRerelease of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehogCD'', noting that he enjoyed the improvements Christian Whitehead's Retro Engine brought to the game and how he hopes it could be used for an original game to bring a truer successor to the Genesis classics. Fast-forward three years later and that exact thing happens in the form of ''VideoGame/SonicMania''.
** Johnny lampshades that this trope is present in ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'', when Eggman blows up half the moon, a fact that ''every future Sonic game does not acknowledge'', and never ceases to fail in showing a completely intact moon if they're showing the moon.
** At the end of his review of the [[VideoGame/StarFox1 SNES]] [[VideoGame/StarFox2 Star Fox games,]] he wishes Nintendo to properly finish and release ''VideoGame/StarFox2'', but realizes that it's probably not gonna happen for redundancy reasons. Well, it looks like [[http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/06/star_fox_2_will_finally_be_released_thanks_to_super_nes_classic_edition Nintendo themselves]] [[UnCanceled has listened.]]
** The day that Johnny posted his ''Chain of Memories'' review was the day a new D23 trailer for ''Kingdom Hearts III'' came out.
** In Johnny's review for ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2'' in 2010, he wonders what would happen if Sonic threw a lit match in Oil Ocean Zone. He shows an animation of Sonic doing just that with the explosive results seen from outer space. Seven years later, ''VideoGame/SonicMania'' makes Johnny's dreams come true by causing the entire surface of the oil pools light on fire if Sonic jumps into it with the Flame Shield. Johnny was ''very'' ecstatic.
** Remember when he said that ''Mega Man 6'' and ''7'' weren't ever re-released on any other platforms? Well, now that problem's fixed with ''The Legacy Collection 1'' & ''2'', though that problem had already been solved with the re-releases of those games on the Wii U Virtual Console a couple of years beforehand.
** When showcasing the ''Sonic 1: Burned Edition'' hack, which was infamous for initially having a bug where the game would freak out upon killing a Caterkiller, for ''Sonic Hacking Contest 2015'' Johnny starts freaking out when the midboss to one of the stages was a giant Caterkiller. Come ''VideoGame/SonicMania'', the boss for Mirage Saloon Zone Act 1 is indeed a giant Caterkiller.
** In his ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations'' review, he jokes that he'll probably be finding new things about the game in the years to come...assuming his Xbox 360 doesn't red-ring in that time. Now that the game's been added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program, he can easily play the game on the Xbox One if he wants, with graphical updates to boot on the Xbox One X.
* MemeticBadass:
** Nathan's been in the Air Force, can take on eight soldiers before getting knocked out, can get out of handcuffs faster than a magician, and arrested a Saiyan. During the ''VideoGame/FreedomPlanet'' stream, he joked the only thing he's not done is meeting Jesus in person; yet (though he said he actually met Jesus in the ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask 3D]]'' stream), among other things like defending Air Force One (on the ground for refueling, but still).
** Tails in Johnny's review of ''VideoGame/TailsAdventure''. The review starts with three of the Battle Kukkus teasing Tails while he stares at them with a smile on his face. Tails then [[SicEm sicks T-Pup]] on one of them, only for another one to back up into a pile of lit bombs. Following the explosion, Tails chases the last one down in a modified Sea Fox with tank treads, [[DissonantSerenity still smiling]] while Music/{{Pantera}}'s [[Recap/SpongeBobSquarePantsS2E7PrehibernationWeekLifeOfCrime "Pre-Hibernation"]] blasts in the background. As if that weren't enough, the review ends with Tails [[UnflinchingWalk walking away]] from the exploding Battle Kukku Fortress, ''VideoGame/MegaMan7''-style.
* MemeticMutation:
** Johnny's infamous EvilLaugh has spawned many laughs, having it being played over clips of Sonic, Mephiles, and even [[LetsPlay/ClementJ642 Clement]] laughing.
** Johnny's [[http://thehope18.deviantart.com/art/Somecallmejohnny-GIF-Crash-Dance-447430692 Crash Bandicoot dance]] has inspired some [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIGU8Acs3-U remixes]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsfFGpHiwzo parodies.]]
** "BREAK DANCING EGGMAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"
** This [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B_nJ292WYAAsiTm.jpg picture]] of Johnny holding two Toys/{{amiibo}}. It has become popular to photoshop various different objects onto Johnny's [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B_nViBKUYAAadPW.jpg hands]] or to photoshop that face on to the head of other [[https://twitter.com/Mario9919/status/657730140860887040 images]]. The amiibo picture became so memetic that in the very first entry of the Sonic Hack 2016 contest, the hack shows off the swinging ball and chain with Johnny's amiibo face on it, which causes the group to crack up in hysterics.
** Due to the ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' marathon being interrupted by several unrelated games (those being ''VideoGame/KnucklesChaotix'', ''VideoGame/CrashBandicootNSaneTrilogy'', ''VideoGame/SonicMania'', ''VideoGame/MetroidSamusReturns'', and a game subscription service), viewers have made jokes about those games being part of the ''Kingdom Hearts'' series as well, with remarks about how weird the series timeline has gotten or how Sora has somehow transformed into a blue hedgehog, bandicoot, or armored bounty hunter.
** A clip of a live-action Dr. Wily laughing evilly (taken from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj8ncXOejo4 this French commercial for Mega Man 2]]) is frequently used during Johnny's Mega Man reviews, typically when bringing up Wily's evil plots.
** Johnny's "party time" dance to the remix of ''Vampire Killer'' in the review of ''Castlevania Chronicles.'' To the point that Johnny even brought it back for one of the Raycon spots.
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: Johnny's laugh is this for how infectious and memetic it is.
* NightmareFuel: The ending to the ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' review.
* RetroactiveRecognition: His theme music was composed by Tee Lopes, who would later be known for making much of the music for ''VideoGame/SonicMania''.
* TakeThatScrappy: Johnny kicking Balloon Boy to the floor in the ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' review (And dances too).
* TearJerker: In his MOTHER 3 review, his reaction to the final boss fight.
** His Celeste review, where he admits that he can relate to Madeline with her anxiety issues.
