----
* AndYouThoughtItWouldFail: The first few episodes weren't exactly critically acclaimed, but it's already getting an English dub 3 episodes in.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Many fans praise the manga for its unique, detailed style.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The opening and ending songs, as well as the music from the previews.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Lilac is either loved for doing his best despite being weak and sticking to his friends or hated for .
* BrokenBase:
** Is it a shonen, a shoujo, something in between, or something else entirely? The debate never ends.
** The anime. Is it good or bad? Artwork, animation, pacing, characterization... there's almost no part of it that hasn't spawned at least a bit of a discussion.
** The dub. It's either very fitting or a massive case of VocalDissonance.
* ClicheStorm: One of the biggest criticisms the beginning of the series has to face. It later manages to turn it around by Deconstruction deconstructing most of the clichés it used.
* DracoInLeatherPants: "Tsubaki did nothing wrong!" or "Tsubaki is just misunderstood" are common phrases.
* EnsembleDarkHorse:
** Sakuya. He ranked third in the popularity poll despite being DemotedToExtra for a couple volumes.
** The Greed pair. They first showed up in the fifth volume and quickly took over the fandom. They got two bonus chapters in the manga, and the amount of fanart they get (especially as a couple) is huge.
** SmurfetteBreakout: The girls. They can be counted on one hand and their appearances are few and far between, but that's exactly why the fandom has latched onto them. Ophelia deserves special mention.
* EvilIsCool: Most fans find Tsubaki and his squad just too entertaining to hate.
* Fanon: It is almost universally accepted, while not canon, that Kuro has the most beautiful smile.
* FanNickname: "Mamahiru" for Mahiru.
* FoeYayShipping:
** Tsubaki and... pretty much any member of the main cast.
** Mikuni and Tsurugi, thanks to their banter, their similar tendencies (and denial of them), and their past.
* FridgeBrilliance: Kuro's true animal form is a lion. Why a lion? Real life male lions usually let the lioness that were part of its pride go for hunting instead of hunting for their prey by itself. In a sense, male lions also represent the sin of sloth.
* FridgeLogic: Why are Tsubaki's subclass said to be indistinguishable from humans when they all have red eyes and don't even bother to wear color contacts and cover them up? Is it such a little-known fact that all vampires have red eyes?
* FriendlyFandoms: With the Manga/BungoStrayDogs fandom, due to both series being targeted towards the same demographic and also having similarities in tone and genre, and also with sports anime fandoms, especially Manga/Haikyuu.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The manga has a huge following in Germany, probably in part because it's been licensed there for a fairly long time.
* GirlShowGhetto: While it's getting a lot of hype, a number of people refuse to watch it because of the CastFullOfPrettyBoys alone, assuming it's yet another run-of-the-mill Fanservice show for Yaoi Fangirls.
* HarsherInHindsight: Kuro's words from the second chapter seem a lot darker once you find out why he said them.
-->Kuro: I just say, "He told me to do it." Free will is overrated.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments:
** Kuro and Mahiru's friendship in general. Kuro has been alone for centuries and suffered through guilt and self-doubt alone, and Mahiru just accepts him for who he is. And Kuro, who claims to be too lazy to do anything, would do pretty much anything for his Eve and friend in return.
** All the friendships Mahiru makes, actually, especially the ones with people who come from a FriendlessBackground, such as Misono and Sakuya. That boy really knows how to make people feel better about themselves.
** Mahiru still seeing Sakuya as a friend after .
** The unusual friendship between Misono and Tetsu, who are polar opposites in pretty much everything. Still Misono takes Tetsu under his wing and is much nicer to him than to most other people and Tetsu trusts Misono blindly.
** Pretty much any moment of the Greed Pair getting along for a change qualifies.
* HilariousInHindsight: A bonus illustration of Tsubaki's squad as a rock band, with Tsubaki himself as the singer, becomes this now that Creator/TatsuhisaSuzuki is his voice actor - Tatsuhisa Suzuki is the singer of OLDCODEX, a rock band.
* HoYay: Has its own page.
* IdiosyncraticShipNaming / PortmanteauCoupleName: A highly sensitive subject with the fandom - it's infamous for being unable to agree on ship names.
* JerkassDissonance: All the show's less-than-nice characters (such as Tsubaki, Tsurugi, and possibly Sakuya) are widely beloved, mostly because they're well-written and their actions are shown to be justified from a certain perspective.
* LauncherOfAThousandShips:
** Unsurprisingly the main character, Mahiru. Most people ship him with Kuro or Sakuya, but Mahiru/Tsubaki and Mahiru/Misono is not uncommon.
** Tsubaki, too. He's usually shipped with Berukia or Sakuya, but he sometimes gets paired up with Otogiri, Mahiru or Kuro too.
** Misono, who is shipped with Tetsu, Lily, Mikuni, Mahiru and Sakuya, and maybe more.
* MemeticMutation:
** Tsubaki, the Servamp of Not Sourcing Art.It all started with this picture on Tumblr and fans took that idea and ran with it.
** Mamahiru.Stems from fans joking how Mahiru is very mommyish at times, seeing the opportunity to make a pun on his name and going with it.
** No cover for Mahiru.Every time a new volume cover is about to be revealed fans speculate if Mahiru's going to be on it since he's the main character and all, and every time it's a different character instead. It's become a RunningGag by now.
** You can't spell "flawless" without Lawless.ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin. Lawless is extremely popular, and fans quickly saw the opportunity to make the pun.
** Comparing Sakuya to lettuce.Look at his hair, and then look at lettuce. Green and curly.
* MultipleDemographicAppeal: You know it has to be this when even the demographic itself is the subject of constant debate. The magazine it's published in is formally labeled as josei, but claims its aim is to blur the lines between Demographic and Demographic works, further adding to the confusion.
* Narm: Mahiru aggressively opening a can of orange juice when , especially in the anime. "In that case, I'd rather stay a kid who likes orange juice!"
* NightmareFuel: When Lily spoiler: loses control after his bond with Misono weakens and the clock he received from his Eve is stabbed. Seeing the usually cheerful and constantly smiling Lily so deformed and upset is quite shocking and uncanny.
* NoYay: For many fans, shipping Hugh with the teen or adult characters is a no-no because, well, he's Squick physically five.
* OneSceneWonder: Uncle Tooru only appeared in one scene so far (not counting flashbacks), but that appearance was pretty memorable because of the great advice he gave Mahiru... and his puns. Mostly his puns.
* OneTrueThreesome: Mahiru, Kuro and Sakuya, as well as Tsurugi, Yumikage and Jun.
* PanderingToTheBase:
** All the official art that depicts the popular pairings together (often very close together) can be seen as this. It even goes so far as to pander to fans of the Mahiru/Sakuya pairing, which originally wasn't expected to be as popular, along with Mahiru/Kuro fans by depicting Mahiru between Kuro and Sakuya, equally close to both of them.
** The anime adaptation also had to face a lot of criticism for this. They introduced many fan-favorite characters early but the pacing had to suffer for it, as did some character development, making it a case of PanderingToTheBase gone wrong.
* ParanoiaFuel: Tsubaki's subclass are basically indistinguishable from normal humans, which means that technically any random person on the street or even one of your closest friends could be one of them.
* QuestionableCasting: Many fans agree that Sakuya's English voice just sounds way too deep for a teenage boy.
* ShipMates: Kuro/Mahiru shippers sometimes ship Sakuya with Tsubaki, and Tetsu/Misono and Licht/Lawless generally go well with anything.
* TearJerker: Pick a backstory. Any backstory.
** Sakuya's character arc also counts.
** Kuro's character arc, although they're happy tears at the end.
** Tsurugi's backstory. There's a reason he's insane... to say the least.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Not as extreme as many other examples, but the anime production staff has had to face a lot of criticism for leaving fan-favorite (and significant) scenes out, especially regarding Deuteragonist Kuro and his relationship with Mahiru.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Special mentions go to the preview. The animation in the actual anime is less outstanding, but at least there's no OffModel to speak of.
* TheWoobie: Many characters become this because of their backstories.
** Sakuya. spoiler:His parents made both him and his older sister commit suicide to get the insurance money, everyone else looked the other way, and now that he's a vampire he can't even be with his best friend because they're technically enemies. Sucks to be him.
** Kuro. [[spoiler:He killed the creator of the Servamps and has been blaming himself and doubting his decision ever since, being all alone with all this emotional baggage for centuries until Mahiru came along.]]
** The Alicein brothers, too. [[spoiler:Misono is actually Mikuni's half-brother and the son of Mikuni's tutor, who was later killed by Mikuni's mother out of jealousy. He was taken in by the Aliceins and raised as their own child, but Mikuni's mother was still consumed by jealousy and tried to murder him. Mikuni had to intervene by killing his own mother and ended up being banished from the family, creating a rift between him and his brother, who didn't know any of this at the time.]]
