* HarsherInHindsight: An article in ''TV Guide'' once followed up on some of the show's more memorable cases. They found that quite a few of the kids were encountering serious financial problems thanks to it. The kids, who are often driving these old, beat-up cars because they're broke and that's all they can afford, found that their insurance rate went through the roof after Xzibit and Co. got a hold of them. Possibly adding to it, all of the extra things they added into the car had to have ruined their gas mileage as well.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** A Magazine/{{MAD}} parody had one car with little LCD monitors installed behind the tires. In an actual PMR episode, metal mudflaps with little LCD monitors were installed in one car, with Xzibit mentioning the magazine.
** One truck was pimped out into a tailgating machine for an Oakland Raiders superfan. Xzibit gave him a Randy Moss jersey as his present after revealing the car. Moss was traded to New England very shortly after the episode aired.
* MemeticMutation
** "Sup/Yo, dawg. Hear you like [x], so we put an [x] in your [x] so you can [y] while you [y]," derived from the Xzibit-hosted seasons (although Xzibit [[BeamMeUpScotty never actually began such a phrase with "yo dawg"]], as the meme commonly does).
** "Gotta put a monitor in it" has become a meme in UsefulNotes/{{Russia}}.
** While it obviously existed before this show, the term "pimp" and it's derivatives ("pimping," "to pimp") to describe making an object cool or flashy really took off afterwards.
** "[[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/understandable-have-a-nice-day Understandable, Have a Nice/Great Day.]]" [[labelnote:Explanation]]The original image of this meme came from [[https://www.facebook.com/pimpmyride/photos/a.10150318149806180/10151762647471180/ Facebook post]] of ''Pimp My Ride'' official page and was used as sarcastic response to the subject in question.[[/labelnote]]
* {{Misblamed}}: Xzibit got the brunt of the blame years after the show ended especially when exposes started cropping up about allegations that the show had been staged to some degree, where participants recalled about how their backstories were exaggerated if not completely fabricated and that the [[TheAllegedCar decrepit cars]] they had transformed turned out to be even worse than expected; they did however absolve Xzibit of any blame as they found the rapper to be quite the NiceGuy.
* {{Narm}}: Most of the cars are utterly absurd to look at and impractical to drive, but are supposed to be considered impossibly cool.
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: The show had two of them, both of which were equally bad.
** The original game comes with horrible graphics, clunky minigames and physics. Crashing cars and objects is a requirement to win money which contradicts the show itself. Not only that, the vehicles aren't licensed. Also, the player is restricted to tuning cars in the order that the game dictates and must do so via rhythm game and failing results in paying the full price of the part.
** ''Pimp My Ride: Street Racing'' has horrible graphics for a 2009 game which look like a early [=PS2=] game, repetitive gameplay with challenges that are the same in every race such as the one that requires to beat the target time, collect all 20 scrilla coins scattered in the track and completing the first lap without damage. Also, like the former, the vehicles aren't licensed. Winning every Championship and Arcade races and unlocking all cars, parts and the trophies, the game [[AWinnerIsYou never ever shows an ending cutscene or any congratulation screen and the credits won't even roll]].
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Reality shows are already immediate by nature, so it's inevitable that a reality show all about showing off trendy, state-of-the-art cars and technology would make it a time capsule, particularly of mid-2000s ostentatious excess before the 2008 recession made such displays unattractive to the public.
