* FridgeHorror: Uhh... assuming it wasn't merely a throwaway gag that was half-GreenAesop and half-TakeThat, how did Riggs know that gasoline he siphoned at the end was from Exxon by ''taste''?
* HarsherInHindsight:
** The film opens with a terrorist blowing up a city building...''as a punchline to a joke''. Then in 1993, the first World Trade Center bombing occured, and in 1995, the Oklahoma City bombing happened. Each was attacked with...'''''a vehicle full of explosives'''''. The car bomb "joke" has only gotten less funny with each successive real-world terrorist attack, including the 9/11 World Trade Center attack.
** All the police brutality like Riggs pulling his gun and threatening to kill a man just for jaywalking is played for laughs, or just taken as a normal part of police procedure. This film came out just the same year as the LA riots which were in response to the beating of Rodney King. To say that aspect of the movie has not aged well is a major understatement.
* HilariousInHindsight: When the building blows up at the start of the film, the roaring sound is the same roar used in ''Film/KingKong1976'' for the giant ape. 24 years later, Creator/WarnerBros released ''Film/KongSkullIsland''.
* MoralEventHorizon: Travis crosses it when he either drowns one of his men in cement or when he kills a rookie cop, Edwards, in a shootout at the police station [[DiedOnTheirBirthday on the cop's birthday no less]].
* OneSceneWonder: Delores Jackson, the SassyBlackWoman armored car driver who spends the entire chase hitting on Murtaugh.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: There’s a not-so-subtle TakeThat to Exxon. Murtaugh's daughter is wearing a shirt that prominently proclaims pro-choice. And a truck during one of the Chase scenes prominently has an anti-fur message on it.
