** The anime's opening song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a6b6kIQCWg Break The Blue!!]]"
** Also, the song from Episode 4's ThemeMusicPowerUp: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F8F4jACLcU Awake from the Deep]]".
* FanNickname:
** Due to the premise of the show amounting to: "A war machine piloted by a boy and a cute girl, but with other girls also competing", the show has often called "[[Anime/DarlingInTheFranxx Harem in the Franxx]]."
** Or early on, "Darling in the Videogame/AceCombat."
* FriendlyFandoms: With the ''Videogame/AceCombat'' fandom, unsurprisingly.
* SpiritualAdaptation: This is probably the closest we could get to an anime version of ''VideoGame/DonPachi''. Kei is basically the role of the pilot, and the Anima have a similar role to the Element Dolls.
** It's also one to the aforementioned Ace Combat, especially as the Anima cockpit uncannily resembles the [[Videogame/AceCombat3Electrosphere COFFIN]] and the drone warfare aspect brings to mind ''Videogame/AceCombat7SkiesUnknown'', although the villain in Girly Air Force is an EldritchAbomination.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical:
** A major plot point in the late episodes of the series is that the US Military is obsessed with control, to the point that [[spoiler:they're willing to sacrifice Japan's Anima in a joint operation so that they won't be at a military disadvantage against them and Russia. Further, it's revealed that Americans have a hard time accepting Zai and Anima as anything other than data and algorithms, and this is stated to be the reason why America only succeeds at making one Anima...and even that one success ends up BrainwashedAndCrazy because she was programmed to have no personality other than what they told her to.]] It's not hard to see this as a political commentary on American culture and military doctrine as a whole.
