  • Awesome Music:
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Due to the premise of the show amounting to: "A war machine piloted by a boy and a cute girl, but with other girls also competing", the show has often called "Harem in the Franxx."
    • Or early on, "Darling in the Ace Combat."
  • Friendly Fandoms: With the Ace Combat fandom, unsurprisingly.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: This is probably the closest we could get to an anime version of DonPachi. Kei is basically the role of the pilot, and the Anima have a similar role to the Element Dolls.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?:
    • A major plot point in the late episodes of the series is that the US Military is obsessed with control, to the point that they're willing to sacrifice Japan's Anima in a joint operation so that they won't be at a military disadvantage against them and Russia. Further, it's revealed that Americans have a hard time accepting Zai and Anima as anything other than data and algorithms, and this is stated to be the reason why America only succeeds at making one Anima...and even that one success ends up Brainwashed and Crazy because she was programmed to have no personality other than what they told her to. It's not hard to see this as a political commentary on American culture and military doctrine as a whole.
    • On a different note, some Japanese 2ch users accused the series of pandering to Chinese audiences, what with the main character being a very unusual example of a Japanese person who considers China to be his real home due to being born and raised there, and the fact that the Zai attack begins in China, almost as an acknowledgement that China is such a powerful nation that any Alien Invasion would target it first as opposed to the USA.
