1	* BadassDecay: Rosie O'Gravy, dedicated cop and a true badass in her own right, suffered from this horribly as she got downsized into starring in segments featuring her niece Dot, cutting her out of the major stories.
2	* BizarroEpisode: "In Your Dreams", where Eliot manages to fall asleep and then the whole episode [[RunningGag goes to the dogs]].
3	* EnsembleDarkhorse: Mad Dog.
4	* FridgeLogic: While applicable to RuleOfFunny, the setup of both worlds leads to some questions. Like how could there be a postal service in a world where virtually every dog will attack a mailman? And then you have things like the instinct to chase cars, yet they manage to drive them. But again, RuleOfFunny comes into play.
5	* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Eliot, after spending most of "Howl the Conquering Hero" trying to get Artie to see him as a hero, decides that Terri deserves that title more than he does, and convinces Artie to rewrite his school paper to reflect that. At the end of the episode, Eliot calls his own mother.
6	* NightmareFuel: Screwie Louie initially comes off as just a paranoid nutjob assuming the screws are out to get him. But then Ace encounters him and he's a deranged piece of work.
7	* RetroactiveRecognition:
8	** Yves is voiced by Creator/RinoRomano in his first voice acting role. He'd later go onto voice [[Anime/SailorMoon Tuxedo Mask,]] [[WesternAnimation/SpiderManUnlimited Spider-Man]] and [[WesternAnimation/TheBatman Batman.]]
9	* TheScrappy:
10	** Rosie's little niece Dot who virtually does nothing but constantly ask "Why?".[[note]]You'd think being voiced by Creator/TaraStrong would alleviate this, but no.[[/note]]
11	** Eddie is also rather disliked by fans due to how obnoxious he is. If it's not the fact that he often gets Ace in trouble, then it's the constant "It's a well-known fact..." comments he makes. And this isn't even counting the episode where he was deliberately annoying.
12	* SeasonalRot: In Season 3, the format went from less emphasis on Ace and company to interrupting the story with short vignettes with an incarcerated Bugsy Vile reading short stories, Rosie and her little niece out and about, or the adventures of Yves and Stephen. This change didn't resonate well with fans.
13	* TearJerker: The ending of "Ya Gotta Have Hart", when, after all his attempts to get a new job after being fired, it looks like Elliot will have to give up drawing Ace Hart, thus condemning the character to "death". The fact that Ace encourages him to do so makes it even ''more'' heartbreaking, as he can't exist unless he has a job in a cartoon, meaning he's effectively committing a HeroicSacrifice for Elliot's sake. Luckily, there's a happy ending when Elliot is rehired.
14	** In a Meta example, last episode's last scene. After finishing the Ace Hart episode of the day, Elliot finally decides to go to take summer vacations and bids farewells to not only Ace, but also the rest of the cast (cue the image from main page). He still promises that he will return soon. The show was sadly cancelled before he could even keep said promise.
