* CharacterTiers: Because of patches, the game's weapon and legend tierlists typically vary between balance patches. Unlike most games the community generally agrees that all weapons are applicable in all matches and thus there's no Low Tiers considered. Tierlists can even vary by person but most generally agree:
** Top Tier: SwordGreat neutral, good damage, extremely versatile, HammerExcellent damage and [=KO=] potential. Great at punishes., AxeGood neutral, great damage. [=KOs=] relatively early., GreatswordCrazy neutral, crazy damage, [=KOs=] the fastest out of all the weapons, GauntletsSurprising range makes for good neutral, great combo/string game, excellent punishes off of hard reads.
** High Tier: BlastersComplicated but good neutral, requires a lot of spacing, has a hard time killing on its own, BowGreat range and neutral but lackluster damage, can't kill without ground pound or signatures, OrbGood neutral, punish, and combo game but has short range that can get stuffed out pretty easily, KatarsExcellent punish and string game, neutral can depend on the matchup, ScytheGimmick gives a lot of reads to work off of but has lackluster damage and [=KO=] potential, SpearGreat neutral and combo game, but slow and punishable
** Mid Tier: Rocket LanceCan kill quickly but has glaring weaknesses, recovery move can end prematurely if it hits an opponent, CannonLarge hitboxes and high damage but is slow and predictable.
* ComplacentGamingSyndrome:
** When playing online in free-for-all or lower ranks, it's common that people will continually use signature moves. Some legends commonly associated with this playstyle are Queen Nai, Teros, Thatch, and Orion. It doesn't help that each week of battlepass missions will be guaranteed to have 3 missions that require getting wins, [=KOs=], or damage with specific weapons. Cue a large portion of the community to play as legends that have 2 of those weapons at once.
*** The battlepass mission "Hit with 5 different signature attacks" tends to exacerbate the issue further in free-for-alls due to it being more likely to connect signatures against opponents that are focused on somebody else.
** Since the introduction of greatsword, it's been used in large tournaments by a vast majority of players due to the relative ease of use (Not as finnicky as scythe, not as weak as katars, not as range dependent as blasters) and very high [=KO=] potential.
* EvilIsCool: Cross and Lord Vraxx, especially in their Boss Cross and Vraxx the King skins.
* FriendlyFandoms: With VideoGame/RivalsOfAether. In a show of good-natured competition, lead Rivals developer Dan Fornace once challenged the developers of Brawlhalla to a contest to see whose Twitter account could reach 20k followers first, with the loser having to make a skin based on the victor's game. In the end, Brawlhalla won by a large margin, but the contest created something of a FriendlyRivalry between the fans of both games. Brawlhalla was even decided to make a skin for Rival of Aethers in their game anyway.
* HighTierScrappy: While every character and weapon is considered usable to an extent, with the game's competitive nature, some are naturally considered a little too good.
** Weapons:
*** Spears are considered far too powerful for how easy they are to pick up and play. They're fast, relatively long-ranged, have simple yet effective and spammable combo strings, and possess one of the widest and most abusable Ground Pounds and recovery attacks in the game, the former of which is known to kill rather easily, to the point that it isn't unheard of for players to win using almost only that.
*** Scythes, while considered to require more skill to use, are a whole new beast when learned, and have become widely dreaded as a result. Their active input system gives them insane combo potential, letting them quickly rack up damage without giving the opponent room to breathe, and they have good range combined with an excellent aerial game, making them a nightmare to face off against.
*** Rocket Lances have very large hitboxes on all their attacks and deal very good damage with very few downsides. A sufficiently aggressive player can use them to deal damage very quickly, and Rocket Lance legends tend to have incredibly hard-hitting, hard to dodge signatures with that weapon, which doesn't help their reputation.
** Characters:
*** Hattori has been famously powerful since the game's early days, and hasn't really lost steam since. She wields two very good weapons, including the aforementioned spears, and her signatures all either have very wide coverage, or are very fast and can take an opponent by surprise. She herself is also one of the fastest characters in the game, and to top it all off, none of this stops her from being beginner-friendly.
*** Ever since the 3.38 patch, Mordex has consistently been one of the most played legends in the game. Both of his weapons have excellent off-stage potential, he has excellent signatures, and his GlassCannon statline fully augments the aggressive playstyle that he is defined by. Being associated with Sandstorm, often considered the best NA Esports player, only worsens this, and Mordex players are often mocked as "Sandstorm wannabes", especially if they play well.
*** Queen Nai may be slow, but everything else about her is considered to make up for it a little too well. She wields a combination of spears and katars, making her very good at strings, and has a high enough strength stat to mitigate the low damage of her weapons. What is really hated about her, however, is her stupidly effective signatures, which deal high damage, come out very fast, and reach incredibly far - her spear down signature in particular is considered ThatOneAttack, and can reach across almost half the length of the smaller stages.
*** Orion has a balanced statline, leaving for very few weaknesses and making him very versatile in regards to stances, and he wields the much-reviled combination of spears and rocket lances, giving enemies hell no matter which one he's wielding. His playerbase has received such notoriety for spamming his signatures (which are generally very fast with good amounts of knockback) that it gave rise to the "yellow man bad" meme.
*** His ArchEnemy, Artemis, is less hated, but not by a wide margin. In addition to having very high speed (the same as Hattori's), and wielding a mix of lances and scythes, both of which are considered overpowered in their own right, she possesses notoriously quick signatures that are often spammed.
*** Loki wields both scythes and katars with the highest Dexterity stat in the game, which tends to lead to him being easy to be caught by and hard to escape, and his stats are otherwise fairly balanced, leaving him with few weaknesses. His signatures are, once again, the main sticking point with him, as they have incredibly large and unorthodox hitboxes, so the ability to spam makes him a frustrating opponent regardless of their skill level.
*** Teros is currently considered the game's best character. Not only does he have incredibly high strength without being overspecialised like Xull, but his choice of weapons augments this further. His signatures are ridiculously strong, knock you back very far, are wide-reaching and easily abused, which tends to lead to the opposition dying incredibly early if they don't play an evasive game.
* HilariousInHindsight: This wouldn't be the last time that Franchise/AdventureTime characters appeared in a PlatformFighter.
* LowTierLetdown: Some characters, usually Jiro and Caspian, are consistently hated in for being “bad” despite being actually playable and sometimes good for a very long time since the devs last patched them.
* MemeticMutation: Having been going for a long time, there are bound to be at least a few memes.
** The community has branded both Pirate Thatch and Ulgrim as Memetic Badasses.
** The Apprentice Ulgrim skin, in particular, is generally well received.
** Maining Teros or Xull
** "Ember? You mean Bucket?"A member of the community found out that "Ember" translates from Indonesian to English as "Bucket."
*** WHO THE FUCK PLAYS BUCKET?
** yellow man badA common meme on the subreddit pokes fun at Orion for spamming and generally not being a good player, so people have taken it to its logical conclusion.
** Sword/SwordPeople would make jokes about a legend have two of the same weapon, but since the release of Jaeyun this meme has taken a new meaning.
** The Switchcraft gamemode, for all the cursed images it can make. Not only the nightmarish results of watching someone use Magyar’s sigs, but even Ragnir’s axe can create some pretty weird clip opportunities when you see… someone else… breathing fire?
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Because of the legends being... legends, there are some examples.
** Let's start off with Bodvar. After a lifetime of heroism and vivtories, he became convinced he would never fall in battle and enter Valhalla. So instead, he finds his way to the warrior, kucks down the door and just invites himself in.
** Everyone has the ability to straight up defy gravity by gravity-cancelling.
** Almost every signature move, bonus points for crossover skins.
** Let's be real, the Deal With It taunt is pretty awesome. Though that's not to say some of the other ones such as Team Photo, Guitar Solo, and Next Level.
** Pirate Thatch fires literal cannonballs out of his blasters, and those cannonballs also happen to explode.
** Xull uses both a cannon and an axe with the highest strength stat in the game.
* NightmareFuel: With the introduction of Magyar and his signatures, this adds in potential creepypasta should players ever combine him with Switchcraft.A gamemode that scrambles legend weapons and signatures Whoever ends up getting his hammer or greatsword will have exorcisms when performing these signatures, particularly either weapons' neutral or side signatures. Doesn't help that the characters are programed to use their KO'd expression for them. Magyar only has his eyes dissapear so his helm looks empty, but for most characters, they may be mistaken for dead or at least in a lot of pain.
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: The KO sound effect, if you're delivering it.
* ShipToShipCombat: This was bound to happen, since lore entries can contain interactions with other legends.
* StuckInTheirShadow: Sentinel and Isaiah have some of the lowest overall playrates in the game.
* ThatOneAttack: Multiple legends have one, almost to the point of requiring its own page.
** Ninja Hattori and Queen Nai's signatures tend to all be considered ThatOneAttack by players.
** Ada's spear neutral signature has an extremely large hitbox and very high knockback.
** Thatch's blaster down signature is the aforementioned cannonballs which cover a huge area and also semispike.
** Signatures that have startup hitboxes, like Wu Shang's gauntlets down signature and Isaiah's blasters down signature, line up opponents to be in the exact spot to get hit by the rest of the signature.
** Asuri's katar neutral signature, Kor's gauntlet neutral signature, Teros and Ulgrim's axe neutral signature, and Yumiko's hammer signature are all "dunk" movesGrabbing the opponent and them slamming them downwards, leading to a lot of situations where it leads to a free stock.
*** Gravity-cancelling or slide-charging dunking signatures offstage has become a meme, to the point some characters, mostly Teros, Asuri, Diana, Nix and Yumiko have been stereotyped as “offstage n-sig spammer”.
** In a similar vein Ulgrim's lance down signature, Ragnir's axe down signature, Kaya's spear down signature, and Cross' blasters neutral signatures are attacking for the entire duration of the charge, unlike most other signatures, meaning a lot of players have and will run into them.
** Chase signatures, as in ones that move during the charge, like Xull's side signatures on both weapons, Asuri's sword side signature, Kaya's bow neutral signature. They can make movement unpredictable and can charge across the entire map.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: When Greatsword was added to the game, it was overpowered for its time. When it eventually got nerfed, the playrate took a nosedive similar to cannon.
