* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Considered to have one of the most graphically appealing art styles in the 90s arcade era, with bright saturated colors and expressive, goofy character animation.
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Whenever Dr. Saturn shows up. He is a joke villain who never gives up despite his constant humiliation, and can be laughably evil even when he shows competence.
* GoddamnedBoss: Pluto. While he is not the hardest boss in the game, he hops all the time, has a long range and his powerups can increase his speed, offense, defense and even heal him. He is a pain to land a hit on, and you want to kill him quickly to get enough score for the TrueFinalBoss.
* QuirkyWork: Probably amongst the oddest of 90's arcade beat em ups with it's rather unusualy outlandish character designs. Zipang, for one, is some kind of one-eyed robotic/cyber knight with a lance, riding an indescribable two-headed snail/griffon creature that hides weapons in its shell.
* SpiritualSuccessor: To Capcom's earlier beat-em-up ''VideoGame/CaptainCommando'', sharing 1950s SciFi aesthetics, with fantastically weird robots and aliens.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: The second half of stage 6 predated the carnival stage from ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom2''.
* ThatOneBoss:
** Octopus Mark 2. It is relentless, has a very annoying recovery, and likes to fill the entire arena with bombs. It's vulnerable if you make it dizzy, but it's not easy to do so.
** Zipang, despite his massive sprite, is a pain to land a hit on thanks to his orbiting spheres and his habit of jumping all over the place. On the other hand, he has very fast combos and a deceptive range, making it very easy for him to hit you.
** [[spoiler:Even for a TrueFinalBoss, the Master Program is very hard, the toughest of all bosses. He has super armor, very damaging attacks, and WILL test all your abilities]].
* WarmUpBoss: The first battle with Dr. Saturn. Even with the strict time limit, he is a pushover.
